Missing issues in online catalogue

Mon Sep 10, 2018 3:03 pm

The online catalogue of issues only goes up to Issue 71, July 2018, "Run Android", is missing 72 "AI made easy" and 73 "Video games" -

Issue 71 is also the latest issue shown under Latest News, though more recent projects from later issues are detailed below that -

We're currently looking into this. It seems to be a browser-based error and we see it in different browser / computer setups. I can see all the latest issues using Chrome on a Mac, but not Safari.

In the meantime try using a different browser and you should be able to see all the issues.

Hi,
I have the same problem as Hippy. I've tried Firefox, Chromium, Chrome, Opera, Vivaldi and Midori, they all showing issue 71 as the latest release.

Chrome and MS Edge (shudder) on Window 10 only go up to issue 71
I don't have any other browsers and I don't want to install others. Perfectly happy with Chrome, thank you.

Only up to Issue 71 in Chrome, Chromium (Pi), Firefox, IE11, Opera, Palemoon, Seamonkey and Vivaldi.

The HTML doesn't include anything after Issue 71 so perhaps it is the server sending out different content depending on User-Agent or something ?

I couldn't see any metadata showing publication or generation date in the HTML but it does include -

<!-- Cached page generated by WP-Super-Cache on 2018-07-10 16:18:32 -->

That July date would be consistent with the July 71 issue being the latest shown. So perhaps it's a caching issue, maybe a problem with WordPress ?

It could be that what's being looked at in Pi Towers, if that's where you are, on some systems or browsers, is different to what others get to see.

We're still looking into this. It is most vexing.

Here's an insider tip. You can access any of our issues directly using our shortlink and just the issue number

magpi.cc/74

You can also directly access the PDF using the issue number and read, ie: magpi.cc/74read or magpi.cc/73read. We use these to quickly link to issues across the website..

(We also set up links to the store with the issue number and buy: magpi.cc/74buy, magpi.cc/73buy and so on)

Thought I would have another look just now and it seems to be working again.
Using Chrome and Edge on Windows 10.

Many thanks. It does all seem to be working for me now ( Firefox, Chrome ), though the alignment of the catalogue table is a little out of kilter for me with the latest Oct 2018 edition. Looks like the thumbnail for that is a tad smaller than for the others -

That's correct - the magazine itself is a bit smaller now. The cover has new dimensions, so it will look a little odd for the next few months.

Thanks for the explanation. It might be worth asking one of the in-house 'Web Wizards' if they can add code to scale the thumbnail images all to the same height or make the "Get Edition" boxes line up. That would make the difference less noticeable but it is only an aesthetic problem.

We should have a fix for this. We need to delete the cache at our end every month.

Let us know if you see missing issues again and we will wipe the cache.

Well, the problem would be that we don't see the missing issues ;)

Could it be that the RSS feed is also affected by this?
I just see several new items in my feed that are up to 10 days or so old.
Looking back something similar happened when the issue was solved first time around, about a month or so ago.
