Issue #57 set up guide for UK

Sat Aug 19, 2017 2:14 pm

Hello everyone

Got my hands on this issue after a couple of months and after building the hardware, downloading an image, unpacking it, writing the image to an SD card, mucking around with monitor settings and continuing with the set up guide (and Google searching), it now seems that various details are required including a Credit Card and a phone number.

By default I am a business, cannot change this.

So the real question is can someone please point me in the direction of a step by step guide for an individual in the UK who is not interested in giving the details above just to muck about with voice control?

Another question is, what if I was an under 18 without a Credit Card?

Am I missing something here?

Thanks in advance.

The MagPi say it is fine to fake buisiness it and Google are aware it is being done like that (a tweet of theirs and in a following MagPi).

I didn't and will not, so ignore that step and continue.

The website AIY has easier to follow instructions and they use a new image now than in the MagPi instructions.

Thank you Bensimmo for the reply.

Unfortunately that doesn't really help as I downloaded the SD image from aiywithgoogle site as there didn't seem to be a download from Mag Pi. Unless of course I missed that.

You say to ignore that step and continue, it will not let me.

Any suggestions?

Thanks again.

I mean the AIY image has updated since the AIY image the MagPi was based on.
And Google have improved their site
I'm sure I filled this https://aiyprojects.withgoogle.com/voic ... istant-api
Which now doesn't ask for it by defaultand just don't do part 3, you of course then cannot so that part. But just use the local voice.

If anyone knows more, pop into the AIY section on here (link as there area lot of sections viewforum.php?f=114 )

Hope that helps, I've not used it too much for anything advanced.
