I had it running on a Thinkpad T420 alongside Windows using two separate hard drives. Even that is a bit cranky and it's best to have Linux as your Primary boot drive and Windows as the Secondary drive (as GRUB can load Raspberry Pi Desktop and Windows).
I wouldn't go near partitioning on a single drive myself, but if you fancy a laugh let me know how you get on. Make sure you don't care about the Windows installation or have it backed up
Best bet is to go with VirtualBox inside Windows as DougieLawson suggests.
