Digital Subscription Cost Confusing

Sun Feb 28, 2016 11:17 am

Let me start off by saying I love The MagPi and look forward to each edition.
What is a bit strange is the digital subscription cost. I sincerely wish to donate to help keep the MagPi available for free and support the community. Although I could have downloaded the issues for free, I choose a paid subscription in 2015 ( for digital download only) as a way to give back to a great community.

This year the price of a digital subscription was raised over 40%. Why do this when I can get it for free?? Having it show up in my magazine app isn't really a benefit, and I usually end up downloading a PDF for archiving anyway.

Donating $25 a year is well worth it, but the new cost of almost $40 is a bit steep. Why raise the cost of something I can get for free? Am I missing something? I suspect others will also hesitate on the new price, potentially lowering revenues that are essentially all profit. Is there another way to donate?

The magazine app is slightly easier to read with and some people prefer it. It's just an extra option, really
