Suggest make a new topic with a title like "Help with <tutorial name or problem>...." plus the issue and page number, keep things organised.

Sounds like a good idea, otherwise we're going to get one very long thread with lots of stuff on it!

An example topic line would be:

Help with Issue 33, Command Line Pi, Page 33.

Just got a reapberry pi and going thru some tutorials. I have the camera attached and taking pictures and saving them to a folder. It says to create an executable for these commands, I cant figure this one out. I am using the -chmod command and saving to the /home/pi/takpic folder.

Thanks for any help.

Hi Guys,

In issue 54 there is a tutorial for building the Drum Like me Kit.
In the schema it stated I need a 1N4868 small signal diode or simiar, but i can't find a good webshop where i can buy this and i cant find a diode with the same specs.
Could you point me to a similar diode?

Regards,

Thomas

I suspect something like a 1n4148 will suffice.

Issue 57 help please

I have built my AIY box, connected everything correctly....
The PI boots, I can test audio etc with no issues.
I have followed the steps on all the pages but I am getting stuck on the manual set up step here
https://aiyprojects.withgoogle.com/voic ... he-service Item 3.1 I run src/main.py but I am getting the following
/home/pi/voice-recognizer-raspi/env/lib/python3.4/site-packages/urllib3/contrib/socks.py:37: dependancyWarning:socks support in urllib3 requires the install of optional dependancies: specifically, pysocks
this also has a link to readthedocs.io/en/latest/contrib.html#socks-proxies but this is a dead link

If I follow the on screen instructions and press the button to say something to my AIY I get an instant reply of "unexpected error try something or check the logs" and on screen I get
The abovr Exception was the direct cause of the following exception
File src/main.py line 269 in _recognize
self._handle_result(self.recognizer.do.request())
file /home/pi/voice-recognizer-raspi/src/speech.py, line 261 in do_request
raise error (Exception in speech request

Im sure I am missing something easy but i am not a linux guy at all so things I have found to try to fix the issue have been pretty much greek to me :P SO Im hoping someone can say "hey dumby open this folder, launch this script etc" and help me get my new toy working

The test audio script in the desktop works as expected

Same here Bilbo. It seems that the various tests pass, but actually running the voice recogniser fails.

I hadn't appreciated how much hoop-jumping there would be on the Google Cloud Platform front. It's not for the feint hearted.

Hi I'm having an issue with adding a power button (issue 57)

I've downloaded the code, saved it in the correct place, edited the rc.local file to run the script at boot.

I'm positive my (momentary) button is connected to the correct pins and have written another small script with an LED to test if the button works, all seems ok.

When I press the button to power off, nothing happens. Anyone got any pointers of what to try?

Thanks
