Email from raspberrypi.com

Mon Jul 19, 2021 3:47 pm

I'm not exactly sure where to drop this question, but it's the following:

I just received an email from the email domain @raspberrypi.com.
In that e-mail it said that I entered the magpi competition and that I had won. yeay! :o
Now, just to be sure, before i send my home address to receive the prize.
I wanted to know if the email domain raspberrypi.com is also the official one next to raspberrypi.org. :?

So is this also the real email or should I be careful?

Thanks for the response in advance.

You need to study the raw email headers.

raspberrypi.org is registered with Cloudflare/Mimecast @ 195.130.217.201 for the MX record.

Their SPF record is

Code: Select all

v=spf1 include:eu._netblocks.mimecast.com include:_u.raspberrypi.org._spf.smart.ondmarc.com include:aspmx.pardot.com include:send.helpmonks.com include:mail.zendesk.com ~all
Raspberrypi.com is registered with Mythic Beasts (who are trusted and are my DNS service provider) at 46.235.230.102.

SPF for Raspberrypi.com is

Code: Select all

v=spf1 include:_spf.google.com include:spf.mandrillapp.com ip4:109.74.198.40 ~all
Languages using left-hand whitespace for syntax are ridiculous

That should be OK, MagPi use the .com suffix, as they are part of Trading.

ah,
I was starting to worry so that's why I asked. I am reassured now.
Thank you for your responses. :)
