Help with BURN SD CARDS WITH ETCHER

Tue Jul 04, 2017 9:01 pm

I followed the instructions on the article about how to download Etcher on RasPi, however, I am unable to make it work
Original article https://www.raspberrypi.org/magpi/pi-sd-etcher/
I used the code below:
cd Downloads
chmod a+x Etcher-linux-x64.AppImage
./Etcher-linux-x64.AppImage
(I used the name of the file on my directory rather than the one on the article)
I get an error and I am unable to make Etcher run.
The error is: "cannot execute binary file: Exec format error"
Help please
thanks

You can't run x86 images on the Raspberry Pi. It has and ARM CPU, not an X86 one.

Didn't understand the last post.
rpdom is correct, its 64-bit Intel which will never work.

Why not just use dd ?

https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentati ... s/linux.md

Its always available on Linux (Raspbian) and simple enough to use.
Also "unzip" works properly on Linux too.

Hi.

I think you have got confused, you install etcher on your desktop pc running windows/osx/linux you then use etcher to flash the img file on to your SD card which is in a card reader connected to you desktop.

You don't run etcher on the pi.

Please only ask questions in the forum I will not answer questions sent to me directly via PM

Etcher both unpacks the .ZIP and Flashes the .IMG to a SD Card in a SDHC Compatible Card Reader
