Dear users,

I want to install win 10 iot core on my raspberry pi, but I haven't got a win 10 desktop computer to use the dashboard, as written in this page: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/window ... /downloads

I looked in the "October 2018 release" section and there is an item "Raspberry Pi 2 & 3", and I tried to download it.

It it a iso image, now what have I to do with that image?

Thanks

Maybe start with NOOBS (or NOOBS Lite) on the pi, from which you can then install Windows 10 IoT Core to the pi
No Win 10 desktop PC required.

Actually just tested that and neither the current NOOBS or NOOBS Lite can install Win10IOT.

You need a Windows 10 PC for Windows 10 IoT to be usable on your Pi.

It is not a desktop version of Windows, but it's a stripped down version where you use Visual Studio to develop apps. You then use the IoT dashboard to 'deploy' those apps to your Pi.

However, if your PC runs Windows 8, you might be able to develop apps as well since Windows 8 introduced UWP apps. However, if the IoT dashboard installer has a Windows version detection and blocks Windows versions earlier than 10, then you're out of luck.

When you install Win10 IoT you are given the choice of the RTM version, or the Windows Insider version.
The RTM version is quite old and has not been updated, so it probably won't boot with the latest firmware used in NOOBS.
PINN can downgrade it's firmware to run old OSes, so it should work with that if you have a 3B.
To use with the 3B+, you must select the Windows Insider version.
Neither version is compatible with the 3A+ at the moment.

Should it work with SD cards greater then the 16GB version? i have tried 32 and 128 but without luck. also which version did you used to get it to work?

thanks in advance,

What are you having problems with - installing PINN or using it to install Win10 IoT?
You shouldn't have any problem with a 32GB card.
