WindowsIOT : Problem with initial installation.

Sun Feb 25, 2018 12:20 am

Hi,

I'm a complete nooby with RP3, but got one today to start.

NOOB started, and I decided to install the recommended Raspian, and also WIN10 IOT, as IOT is what I got the Pi for.

The installation of Raspian went OK, but the WIN10 didn't. It gave the error shown, and then disappeared, never to be seen again.

Have I done something wrong ?.

Cheers,

Buzby

HI

I'm also new to RPI and Windows IOT - but I have got it working (occasionally). As I understand it the Noobs card is a 'pick once' option, it formats the card according to your choice and sets that OS up for you, by choosing Raspian you've formatted the card to a linux standard and IOT can't work from a linux partition.
you can download a new copy of NOOBS or get teh Windows IOT Dashboard which I've found is much more reliable if IOT is what you want

good luck!

I also recommend using the IoT Dashboard to do your install. https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/w ... Downloads
I did an install on a Pi 3B yesterday no problems at all. I'd also recommend getting your self a couple or SD cards. That way you can install Raspbian on one and 10 IoT on another. Then just swap cards to switch operating systems.
