Windows 10 IoT

Tue Jan 30, 2018 2:33 pm

Welcome,

I have received my Raspberry Pi 3 today in the post with the 3.7 volt 3800 mAh power bank for it. I've seen on Amazon Windows 10 IoT for Raspberry Pi 3 which isn't very expensive. I want to run Steam on my Pi 3 for Instant Messaging and other Windows based applications. Perhaps somebody with experience could confirm if these apps will run on the Windows 10 IoT edition for Pi 3?

Warm Regards,

Privatex86

Windows 10 IoT Core is not the same as Windows 10 Desktop:

You can obtain Windows 10 IoT for Raspberry Pi 3 for free by following the link on the Raspberry Pi Foundation download page: https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/

So any price you are quoted on Amazon seems to be too expensive!

But Windows 10 IoT for Raspberry Pi 3 is almost certainly not what you need.

Basically you bought the wrong device if you absolutely must run Steam as it only runs on machines with x86 CPU Architecture.

Regards Instant Messaging, if you are running Raspbian Stretch with Desktop, either:

Eletch's exagear claims to run Steam on a Pi but isn't a free product.
