WiFi Direct unstable

Sun Feb 07, 2016 11:18 pm

I am trying to make RPI Windows IoT Core creating its own WiFi using WifiDirect API. I use IoTOnboarding example as reference.

As the publisher starts listening there is no problem. Devices can connect to hosted network get the IP etc. The problem occurs after few seconds / minutes. Some devices lose connections, some new are unable to connect again (in most cases they are stuck on 'getting ip'). This is annoying because they I can't figure out if it is my problem or bugs in windows IoT Core.

I have tow WiFi dongles (exchanging them to test) one from TpLINK and one official RPI dongle both are claimed to be supported and on both I have exactly the same effect.

Is there something I'm missing ? Or the wifi direct tends to have bugs ?

Are you putting the Wifi dongles in the top row?

If so there was a known bug that they are flakey there. Don't know why just that they are.

Try putting in the bottom row and see if you have a different experience.

I didn't believe them either till I tried. :)
