There is also an updated SDK
http://blogs.windows.com/buildingapps/2 ... -released/

Warning!!! Do notice that you might not be able to build apps for the store; but for personal experiments it can be used.
The Preview SDK is a pre-release and cannot be used in a production environment.

Generel stuff has been added/removed for Universal Windows Platform; and way down at the bottom we find some IOT delight:

Changes in the Windows IOT Extension – Added

namespace Windows.Devices {
public interface ILowLevelDevicesAggregateProvider
public sealed class LowLevelDevicesAggregateProvider : ILowLevelDevicesAggregateProvider
public sealed class LowLevelDevicesController
}
namespace Windows.Devices.Adc {
public sealed class AdcController {
public static IAsyncOperation<AdcController> GetDefaultAsync();
}
}
namespace Windows.Devices.Gpio {
public sealed class GpioController {
public static IAsyncOperation<IVectorView<GpioController>> GetControllersAsync(IGpioProvider provider);
public static IAsyncOperation<GpioController> GetDefaultAsync();
}
}
namespace Windows.Devices.Gpio.Provider {
public sealed class GpioPinProviderValueChangedEventArgs
public interface IGpioControllerProvider
public interface IGpioPinProvider
public interface IGpioProvider
public enum ProviderGpioPinDriveMode
public enum ProviderGpioPinEdge

}
namespace Windows.Devices.I2c {

Unfortunately still,
The video driver for the Raspberry PI is still under development, and its performance has not yet been optimized.
At least from my point of view, this is one of the last remaining major missing pieces.

Now for DirectX :-)

+1, yes, that is the biggest remaining issue at the moment...
the lack of hardware graphic acceleration makes Win IoT core for RPi2 useless to me for my purpose.
i wanted to use it as full hd info screen and shopping terminal, but animation and media playback are rendered in software right now - horroble slow or not possible at all at the moment.

(linux + mono is not an option because of lack of other things there... only for those who... :roll: )
{ I only give negative feedback }
RPi B (256MB), B (512MB), B+, ZeroW; 2B; 3B, 3B+; 4B (4GB)

Does anyone know how to enable the "High performance GPIO driver option with > 100x improvement"?

You have to be on 10556 or above then,

http://192.168.1.19:8080/devicemanager.htm

and choose 'Direct Memory Mapped driver' from the combo box and then the 'Update Driver' button to switch to the memory mapped beta driver with the warning:

"Warning: This option will reduce Windows security in exchange for performance using an in development driver."
