Display Driver for SPI/Parallel Display

Wed Jun 17, 2015 1:20 pm

Hi!

I want to connect my SPI Display to the PI and Display a Windows GUI on it. I already wrote a driver for the unix environment but I want to switch to windows now :)

I know there is a guide to create a display driver for my application where I can write text and circles and so on... but is there a way to write a general driver for the whole window manager? So that I have the same output on my display as on the HDMI Port.

To be precise, I use this display: KD035FM-7 -> more info here: http://en.lcdlcd.com/product3/2012-08-30/8461.chtml

This is my circuit, which is basically SPI Control.

+1
Love to know this as well, as I am interested in writing a display driver for my WaveShare spotpear v4 (using ili9340) for the window manager, but at the moment, I can't even compile a sample driver for the ARM processor yet with vs2015rc.

There are plans afoot to make it much easier to use a SPI display as the target for the Windows GUI instead of the HDMI. You might want to hold off on writing drivers for a while. I can't say anymore and I don't have timelines yet.

This sounds great! Maybe, do you have a very rough timeline? Like 2 weeks or 6month? :D

Our device is due in maybe 3 month, for now, we can use the hdmi output, but it would be nice if we could implement it without creating any big delays :)

Thank you!

I'm sorry I don't have any timeline information available to me for this feature.
