Windows IoT to Arduino Uno via USB

Tue Feb 07, 2017 10:50 pm

Hello,
I read this article, http://playground.arduino.cc/Csharp/SerialCommsCSharp.
It shows how to connect from Windows to an Arduino via USB.
Does this work from a RPII too?
Can I communicate to one or more Arduinos this way?

End result:
- I want to have one RPii with an API and/or UI/website that I can hit to trigger sending messages to one or more Arduino(s) to turn servos, etc.
- Also, have messages from Arduino(s) back to the RPii like from a light sensor.

Hello

There should be no problems with serial comms on the Pi 2. Only note that it has less processing power than the Pi3.

The following Win 10 IoT sample provides a basic GUI harness for sending and recieving serial comms (to Arduino or any other serial device) that could easily be customised to send some bytes instead of text.

What about a headless example?

The above example works fine with GUI, but how can I use it in an headless App?

Nobody is using Windows 10 IoT because it has not been supported since the 3B+ came out in Mar 2018. If you want to use an Arduino with the RPi run RaspiOS and install https://www.arduino.cc/download_handler ... arm.tar.xz on it.

Yeah, I admit that MS IOT on Rasp is a little? bit dim from 2018. But I have to port a working app in C# :-(
Yes there is of course C++ but ... I'm not amused.

If you want to run C# try Mono.
