SenseHAT Version

I just ordered a SenseHAT from Amazon listed as made by Raspberry Pi. The one I ordered only had 1 small pic; but, when I blew it up, it looked like it was Ver 2.0. Also, the edges of the LEDs in the pic are black and not white. It's more expensive than another listing with a pic which clearly shows Ver 1.0.

Is there a version 2.0 of the SenseHAT?

Notice there is no made in on these pictures.

As in, preproduction pictures, semi computer mockup ? that people are still using.
All SenseHat I've seen are white led casings.

The one you say you think is version 2, says version 1 on it. The image I downloaded from that link did anyway. The LED's do look different though, likely just a different revised production run of that component from its manufacturer.

When we produced the initial run of Sense Hats, we had multiple options for the choice of RGB LED that we were going to use for the display matrix - in fact these LEDs make up a significant fraction of the cost of the board, so we shopped around. We produced several prototypes with each type of LED so we could evaluate them for suitability as display pixels - plus hedge our bets against any of the LED product lines disappearing, as the initial run was for only 20k units.

This has resulted in several stock photos of the board being used by sellers that are not a true representation of the end product - namely prototype images are being used in place of images of the production variant.

Related: it irks me that the unfinished Astro-Pi flight case pictures are still being used in the press - half-assembled and without the anodised coating that makes it space-y.
