How to access GPIO when using senseHAT?

Fri Jun 24, 2016 5:30 am

I have raspberry Pi 2 with senseHAT stacked and all is working fine. But now I need use GPIO and others pins not in use by sensehat to control 2 motors. I saw that after stack HAT there is no way to insert wire because the hole pins are blocked. Is there a way to access the pins? If that is not possible then I will need to remove the HAT and use any other device that provide IMU and also allow use of GPIO. :?:
Regards.

One option would be something like this: http://cpc.farnell.com/piface/shim/i-o- ... MP=CPC-PLA

Hi @DirKS, it seems to be a good solution. I will check it.

The hat is just stacked on riser thingy with pointy bits (OK so mind has gone blank to proper name)
Pull it all off (be careful, they can be quite tight and the hat can twist and you may dislodge the solder at the end, easy fix to just warm up and get it back) after that changing is easy.

You then need an extra long pin version
E.g. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=gpio+long+pin

I use these on one and run 1-wire and UART GPS out of them.

One of these, https://www.adafruit.com/products/2310 soldered to this https://www.adafruit.com/products/1979 should give you lots of options. Put it between your Pi and sense hat.
