AstroPi Data Analysis - O2 Pressurization Event

Wed May 18, 2016 1:49 pm

After spotting the blog post a few weeks ago about the data from the AstroPi units on the ISS, I've finally been able to try out some things in MATLAB to look for daily trends.

Whilst looking at the data, I spotted a massive spike in pressure which I believe must be to do with the O2 re-pressurization. The data is from Columbus module from the AstroPi 'Ed' and the 2 week long data set.

It occurred shortly after 1200hrs on 25/02/2016 and lasted until just before 1500hrs.

Can anyone confirm that this was an O2 re-pressurization event?

There are also other sudden increases in air pressure that occur on
15/03
17/03
24/03
27/03
These however seem to last for much longer that the few hours that the others did.

Also found a small sudden drop in pressure on the 26 March 2016. I wonder if this ties in with the berthing of the Cygnus CRS OA-6 ? Then the day later there is another O2 re-supply.

Hi Scott, I concur with your findings. The anomaly on 25/02/2016 is most interesting though, the pressure shouldn't jump up and then back down again. So I'm stumped for an explanation for that one. I'm going to attempt to get someone for DLR or UKSA to verify.

Thanks for looking.

I agree the 25/02/2016 event was totally unlike the other events.

Looking at the ISS update for that day I can't see anything that definitively points towards what this might be unless it was part of the "Airway Monitoring" study.
