Our team and I are working on a project for Astro Pi that involves taking pictures while on the ISS. Although we consider this task challenging, we are confident on successfully completing this project. In the meantime we were wondering what time span we should take pictures of the Earth regularly. I have been informed that the ISS orbits the Earth rather fast, so I'm assuming that we should take pictures on a regular basis of long periods of time. Please do not hesitate to reply.

The ISS flies at ~27,500 km/h (7.66 km/s) and takes 92.69 minutes to complete one orbit.

Hi there, if you want to do a time lapse, or similar, I would suggest maybe 30 seconds or 1 minute apart. Any more than that and you'll see large jumps in the terrain moving by below. To give yourself an idea about how fast the ground appears to move just go on YouTube and search for
ISS cupola videos. Here is an example:
