Does anyone know technology for the PI to help people read?

Hello I am a young teacher of adult disabled students.

I basically need a new way to teach several students who don't seem to be interested in the current curriculum and as such I am looking for an alternative. Something which basically seems more adult and non-insulting to their intellect. I need something which can teach sounds and help with gaining interest from a student who appears to be having trouble paying attention.

So what would be the most appropriate learning tool for this endeavor?

Possibly, installing a screen reader would help get their attention, then you could find some texts that interest them, & get them to read along with the screen reader(?).

Know of any good screen readers compatible with Kano OS , and also do you know of any programs which teach letter sounds?

I do not know if it'll have what you are looking for.
This is a good lost of education software, it is linked to from debianEdu (education oriented debian distribution)
http://www.skolelinux.no/linux-signpost ... erMenu.php

You'll probably need to install, see if it works and try it out.
I have no experience directly in what you are doing.

Kano OS
That is a Debian based system, (as is SkoleLinux), so you will likely find what you want in their repositories.

https://packages.debian.org/stable/

You will just need to make sure it has been compiled to run on ARM.
