Non-stuttering SpeakUp

Mon Jan 02, 2017 1:56 pm

Hello

I have changed the way my OMX library and piespeakup is built.

There is a new article at:

http://www.raspberryvi.org/stories/stuttering.html

Basically the change to the ALSA driver in 2013 broke TTS using espeak and since then speakup stutters very badly and crashes the kernel.

My OMX library renders speech directly on the GPU and fixes this stuttering.

So now the speakup screen-reader works perfectly.

There is also an article on the Web site about how to get the Orca screen-reader going on a Pi3 with a USB sound card.

Home page:

There is an email list associated with this page, see the front page for how to join.

'raspberryvi' is for 'Raspberry Visually Impaired'.

I am totally blind myself.
