I now also have DLT2153 transmitters - all new boards will be shipped with these which are better compatible for 192kHz/24Bit and also a little bit smaller than the PLT133.

You can also contact me if you only need such a transmitter (and not a full board).
Receivers (DLR2153) are also available.

Hallo Benjamin,

Ich hätte Bedarf an einen DLT2153 und einen DLR2153, kann dir aber keine PN senden, warum, keine Ahnung?
Eventuell, weil frisch angemeldet.

Beste Grüße Fischman

Hello Benjamin,

I would need a DLT2153 and a DLR2153, but you can not send PM, why, no idea?
Possibly because I'm freshly registered.

Hi Benjamin,

I'm thinking about upgrading my Rpi2 to Rpi3 and I don't know if it's a good idea to remove the TinyTOSLINK from Rpi2 to put it on Rpi3. I've seen that I don't need to buy an other box because it's the same board.

However, it seems so fragile that I don't want to risk to break it. Do you think it's a good idea ?

Thanks for your answer and your awesome board :)

Hi Midask

I tested all tinyToslink boards on one of my Pi2 and never broke anything so it should be no problem to remove it ;)

The only thing yoh need to take care of is that you dont bend the Pi too much.
Just move the tinyToslink board back and forth and pull it down softly.
I always lay the Pi on the desk take the tinyToslink board in both hand, move it back and forth and pull it down softly while pressing the Pi on the desk with 2 fingers.
Its a little bit hard to describe here :)
Just be careful then it should be no problem ;)

Best Regards
Benjamin

Hi Benjamin,

Indeed, it should not be a problem, I haven't thinking that you test all tiny toslinks on the same Pi :)

Thanks for your answer !

Hi Benjamin

I am considering one for my RPi B+. But I might upgrade to RPi3 soon, so is it compatible with both? How can I get one, I'm located in Slovakia.

Thanks
Tomas

Hi Tomas,

yes it's compatible for both (for all Pi's with 4 USB Ports).

I'll write you a PM.

I have some questions. I hope someone can answer those!

Is it possible to use the GPIO for other purposes after installing this board (on a Pi 3)? I want to install an IR-receiver and a 433MHZ sender/receiver as well.

And what is the difference between the TinyToslink and for example https://goo.gl/FFXRSm this? Size only or more differences?

Hi

Basically the hardware is almost the same - the audio processor is the same and for the optical transmitter and crystal I'm not sure what they use - I'm using a really good transmitter from aixin for my board and a very accurate crystal and it works flawless all up to 192kHz/24Bit audio.

The biggest advantage is for sure that my board is really small and you have some IO ports left in the middle where you can plug something else - for example your receivers/transmitters (I have connected a LED Stripe with 200 LEDs to the SPI port for Ambilight) - so yes you can use these pins for something else ;) - and it will fit in almost any case (for the big PiFy board you need a special case).

I have just received my TinyToslink, thanks for the great service Benjamin! Nice little device.

I am about to install it and I have some questions. I would like the GPIO for other things beside the TT. I could use the pins in the middle that are not covered by the TT but I was wondering what about the rest. Looking at the schema on p.6 of this threat I concluded that the pins that I marked with yellow are used by the TT. Is that correct? For the moment I won't need anything besides 5v - but theoratically - could I use all the other pins?

Image

For now I just need 5v for an IR-sensor. Any best practice advise on how to do this? Solder it to the bottom of the RPI, or to the bottom of the TT maybe? Cut away part of the pin-cover from the TT so I can reach the pins on the RPI and solder it there?

Edit: I'll just use 3v from the pins in the middle, which also seems to work for the IR-receiver. So problem solved. Although I'm still curious about the other options.

Hi,

yes you could also use the other pins - not all are used by the tinyToslink.

If you send me your email address I can send you the details of the pin usage.

Best Regards
Benjamin

Hello Benjamin,
after investigating to get a good audio output for my Raspi i found your great solution.
First of all thanks to Jörg, you and all others who were involved in the development.
Now i'm having some questions:
-Which raspi is compatible with the tinytoslink board?(Zero?, 1B+, 2B, 3B) I would think? My suggestion is from the official wikipedia site as a result of the GPIO Pins from the technical data.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raspberry ... ifications
-Is it possible to get some of these to Germany?

Please PM me.

Thanks for all.
Best Regards
Sebastian

Hi Sebastian,

basically it's compatible to all PIs with the 40 pin header (Zero,1A+,1B+,2B,3B).
The other ones could be connected with a cable (1A,1B), but it doesn't fit directly.

Yes sure shipping to Germany is possible (I'm from Austria) - I'll send you a PM :)

Benjamin

Hi,

Are these still available?

If so, what is the cost, and are you able to ship to Australia?

Thanks :)

Hi

Yes sure :)

20€ for the board + 10€ for shipping to Australia.

Can you pay via bank transfer? Or paypal?
