Re: /etc/dphys-swapfile CONF_SWAPSIZE Value

Apart from using Memory what effect would a permanent value of CONF_SWAPSIZE=2048 be. I assume this is the size of the virtual storage? No, its the size of the swap file. The virtual storage is the sum of the swap plus the size of the main (RAM) memory. Where is the defined..?...... Apart from usin...

It's filesystem space.

Don't change it unless your rootfs is on USB stick, hard drive or SSD.
OK, but booting to an USB HDD at the moment has not yet been released. I have read of other alternatives, but I will
wait for the official RPI.org release.

Buster: Python2 + booting from USB HDD+Chromium

Is it still necessary to have Python2 in any future release? I see there are problems booting from a USB device, so I will be waiting for an official statement that it works. I do use my USB HDD so save data on.....no problems there at all. Instead of Chromium could Firefox be used. Google products ...

I must partition + format the HDD first. I am looking in Internet to find out the best way to do that and I do not wish to clone but do everything from "first principles". Sorry, I should have made that clear. I assume there must be at least two partitions, one for the boot system and swap...

Partitioning + Formating a USB HDD

Hello, Sometime the booting from a USB HDD will be released. I want to use a fast 320GB HDD for boot at a later date and for data usage now. Perhaps even using it to page virtual storage. So I want to create a boot partition and a data area(s) . For Rpi 3 and Rpi4 4GB. The HDD will be used by the RP...

There is and has been for a long time, a utility here on the site to automate doing this. Do a search for usb-boot.zip here on the site. RonR does a good job of supporting issues. When I entered usb-boot.zip on the search I got 611 posts. Would you be so kind and point me the download? I really wan...

An interesting report. I want to do the same bus using a 320GB USB Disk.

I wonder when RPI.org will get the full USB Boot up and running?

Cooling Fan for the RPi4

Does anyone know of a reliable cooling fan for the RPi4 - and one that allows a HAT to be used?.
SEEED offer a rather magnificently large cool tower but something smaller is required.

Many Thanks

Re: mmal: main: Failed to create camera component

I have heard this could well be a system error...but I have no proof of this.

I have this "mmal: mmal_vc_component_enable: failed to enable component: ENOSPC" now of two RPi with the latest strech updated as of 21.3.2019

Can someone please assist?

bonzadog, However, my query was about installing Influx DB and the above does not address this matter. Your opening post does not ask about installing InfluxDB. It asks for "Any modern Tips" after mentioning influxBD and SQLLITE. As an old friend of mine used to say "You get what you...

influxBD and SQLLITE are such different things that I guess the user you mentioned did not need Influx in the first place. I was reporting what a maker acquaintance I know told me. I want to try out Influx to save RPi's IO GPIO, Analogue and 16-bit digital Values from a SPI and I2C boards. It's imp...
