Re: raspberry pi, raspbmc video buffering

Out of interest.. what make\model is the hub?

Do you have another computer on the same network as the Pi? Perhaps you can attach the HDD's to that and share the data over a network to the Pi (NFS ideally due to low overheads). I play 1080p+DTS that way and it works great,

Re: DVD Ripping Suggestions

Are you wanting to do the ripping ON the pi, or on a pc for playback on the pi? I would imagine re-encoding on the pi would be slow and limited. If you just want to copy the tracks from DVD without reencoding (for smaller filesize) then the Pi would be ok. If you are using a pc to rip then id recomm...

Try http://www.unblock-us.com/
Works perfectly on my Pi (mainly 4od and iplayer XBMC plugins) with all the services I have tried.
Its not free, but its a lot cheaper than a VPN and works great. Don't be a tightwad

It'll work fine, but did you hear dyndns is no longer free?

To quote a recent tweet "If you're hosting a website with #OpenSSL on a #XP machine behind a #DynDNS hostname, it's a bad day for you" :D

I would imagine the same hardware limitation that means that audio only works in HDMI1 also means that cec only works on HDMI1

Re: CECanyway

timbellomo - Your Pi is clearly communicating with your amp just fine as the Pi sees your source changes. I am guessing either your remote needs programming to a mode which sends CEC commands out over HDMI or your remote isn't designed to send its commands this way at all. I am beginning to think th...

Re: RPi to HDMI receiver

As long as your projector takes a HDMI input then it should "just work". Projector speakers are usually awful and the Pi's 3.5mm audio jack has poor quality so you might struggle to get half decent audio out of it. A HDMI equipped AV amp would solve this but its obviously expensive.

That's normal, TV's are unlikely to work with ext4.. but I'm a bit confused as I thought you were talking about a NAS where the TV was playing back a DLNA network stream rather than playing back from your disk connected via usb?

Could well be your Pi is broken. Return under warranty.

What sort of bitrate are the files you are trying to stream? Changing to ext4 should make a good difference as should core overclocking.

Re: 1080p over WIFI doable with Rasp PI or does it need Ethe

Short answer - no 1080p probably can't be played without any problems over wifi. More accurate answer: It depends upon the bitrate of the 1080p content and the wifi quality. Some low bitrate 1080p content may play fine over a good wifi connection, but high bitrate stuff will probably not. It also de...

Re: Adobe flash player can it be done? raspian

I think YouTube are converting their FLV container to MP4 for compatibility reasons not out of spite or for HTML5 support. Android for example doesn't support FLV streaming only MP4, this may also explain when certain videos in the past with the YouTube app would error - "This video not for mobile"...

Re: Bridging my Pi to my Ubuntu lappy to hook onto the Inter

I'd be interested to know if there is a simple way of connecting the Pi to a Linux laptop. My method requires a DHCP server running on the laptop (dnsmasq) and mucking about with routing tables and ip4 forwarding (plus telling my wireless router to allow back traffic to the Pi). It works but may be...

Re: Using z906 speakers with surround around

The Pi can (without extra hardware) only output DTS/DD/Multi-channel 5.1+ over HDMI. That speaker system can only accept digital audio inputs over coax or toslink. This means that (out of the box) there is no digital output on the pi that the system will accept. Some TV's will let you connect the Pi...

Re: Raspbmc - is USB install worthwhile?

Very interesting results Roy thanks. Did you run any USB2 results with ext4? There is a massive difference between the USB3 fat drive and the USB3 ext4. I cant help thinking your Patriot Rage XT got a raw deal as it was stuck on fat.
