Re: Purchase Raspberrypi too early.

Back in the day I bought a 16k spectrum this was all I could afford It was about £109 about a month later the 48k Spectrum dropped to £2 more than I paid for the 16k model. Later I was able to buy the chips to upgrade to 48k I did the job myself. I have no complaints this got me started into computi...

Re: Headless NOOBS network install?

Before the advent of the Noobs card, getting a Raspbian download and writing this to an SD card with an inexpensive card writer was the normal option. The Noobs card has emerged as the prefered Noob startup but all of the older methods still work and are still supported. If anything the cost has bee...

It won't do any harm to see if you can get it to work the problem may just be on the HDMI side.

You may have one of the super rare broken RPi's contact your supplier re-procedure for a replacement. ;)

Re: USB keyboard not responding?

Good to hear you have had an appropreate response. It may be worth contacting Liz on a PM to find out if they want your broken one back and if so where too. They may be interested in tracing down where your RPi failed that way they may be able to prevent other people having the same failure you had....

Re: [i think solved] Failure of my first series of the RPi 2

It's an unusual method but if your RPi is working then you have to say you have had some measure of success and only with time can we gauge how much that is.

Thanks for the feedback.

It will also be intresting if you post any further measures you have to take.

Re: Vsftpd cant access my server from outside my network

Take a look at the Swedish Bank / Logical exposure as an empirical example. If they were running on a RPi then I would be worried. @cpc464 The OP was asking about vsftpd which is the standard ftp on a good chunk of Linux systems including Ubuntu, CentOS, Fedora, NimbleX, Slackware and RHEL. not tha...

Re: Vsftpd cant access my server from outside my network

@Dougie stop scaremongering. 100% overkill I know of at least a dozen that sit quite happily there have been hacking atempts non sucessfull Plus on a RPi whats worth hacking someone kills your SD re image your card and your back on line. Yes there's a reasonably high probability your RPi will by vun...

Re: Pidora cuts SD card?

It sounds kind of wierd Windows can write a Linux partition with a package like Win32DiskImager but cant see it once it's written. Also with Raspbian (and I am unfamiliar with Pidora) you need to run an application after the system is loaded to expand the base file system this alows an image that's ...

Re: PC Power Source

I had a secondary thought this would be a cute way of putting an RPi inside a PC case oK it would have a lot of space in there but it would make for a tidy cable solution. PC Power Source

I was just wondering if there was a cable that would alow me to use some of the many redundant PC PSU units to power my RPi or even multiple RPi's. I am thinking here of a cable that would connect a salvaged PC PSU via one of it's molex plugs to the micro USB of the RPi. I dare say there would be a ...
