for me I used pyaudio installed using

sudo apt-get install python-pyaudio

I get version 0.2.4-2

its older than what you're using. have a go at experimenting. I had used pyaudio in the past with pocketsphinx for voice recognition stuff (didn't work particularly well).

My teacher thinks that it comes from the Raspbian version. I'll try the Method 1 . :)
