How are you able to make the script executable when /boot in Raspberry Pi is a fat32 partition? I couldn't test this because of that problem. I think the original poster had in mind that you would be performing those steps with the SSD you just created mounted to your Raspberry ...

I just looked at fstab and don't see it having a discard option. It has 'defaults,noatime'. Should I add the discard option as well?

Wie hast Du dein OpenVPN konfiguriert? Benutzt Du UDP oder TCP für den Tunnel?
openVPN ist via UDP connected
Versuch mal als Test, auf dem Laptop mit einem Linux-Live-System (statt Windows 10).[
Das müsste ich später erstmal in einer VM aufsetzen
