what's wrong with just using the raspbian installer on the raspbian website to build your own stripped down image? This is what I've done, it just has ssh running and nothing else (aside from the base OS of course). That's way easier than installing the full raspbian official image and then trying t...
SirLagz: Is there any possibility in me getting a copy of that image you built? or instructions on how I can go about building it similarly? Thanks! Right here --> http://sirlagz.net/2012/12/31/raspbian-server-edition-version-2-2/ There's a link to a script there which is pretty much what I used to...
I'll be posting this stripped image shortly at http://www.pi-point.co.uk in case it's any use for you to build what you need on top of. Rather than post a stripped image, wouldn't it be easier to post a script that converts the standard Raspbian into a "stripped" image, and then installs whatever b...
I'm currently stripping down Raspbian to reduce the Pi-Point (Wifi Access Point project) SD card image size - it's a slow old process :o/ Would be nice to have a totally bare Raspbian with apt and SSHD so you add add what you want to it. I'll be posting this stripped image shortly at http://www.pi-...

I have a 'stripped' version of Raspbian available called Raspbian Server Edition
I've stripped out as much as I could while retaining functionality for a server, but you could use that as a starting point and just install X / Openbox / Iceweasel / OpenJDK ?
... XFCE on my Raspberry Pi running Raspbian and when connected to my TV I have managed to change the default desktop environment to XFCE through SLIM. But recently I started using Rdesktop to access the Pi through a remote desktop on my laptop and that skips SLIM resulting in LXDE starting instead. ...
... you can not replicate the freezing up after swapping all the components then unfortunately you may have received a bad board the odds of this are slim to none but do exist. The problem is people are propagating "heating issues" or a desire to cool off their Pi as if this will do anything at all. ...
I don't think a flat battery would be a huge deal. Most "extra life" battery chargers for phones are coming pretty slim these days as they're designed for taking on the go. And the majority of them will be 700mah or higher at 5v so it's just right to power the Pi for a quick call. ...

You may be able to get a touchscreen to work and to get a case that holds the touchscreen and pi in a somewhat slim package, but you will probably not get Ubuntu to run on the PI as Cononical doesn't support any arm processors anymore.
... along? Now that I'm out for Christmas break I've been able to finish building the controls. If you get the latest from the repo, I've added a slim mobile interface. Purely textual. It should work fine on any device, including mobile phones. I've also made the links for controlling the main ...
This problem usually occurs when either the keyboard requires more than 100mA or when the power supply used for powering the Pi is rated less than the recommended 700mA. Your desktop can provide more juice to the USB ports which is probably why they run fine on there. See this post at the wiki for m...
... on Android! Keep up the work! Think how yummy a little tablet or lapdock that could take a RPi insert would be! (ok ok, it would probably need a slim line version but wouldnt it be great to have children using a device more flexible than those consumption only platforms...)

Ou, I like the Slim Xbox. Not to make this a xbox subject thread, but did you slim up the xbox yourself? is it a difficult mod? looks really nice! and yea the Xbox really isn't very good with Mkv files or Mp4 files and the like. ...
... scrapped the idea as it seemed too much hassle and now use the 2 devices independently of each other . Originally hoped to intergrate it into the "slim clock xbox" for my daughters bedroom, but space is a bit tight it there pic attached http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/853/p1050081s.jpg/

... It looks like mount.ntfs-3g is taking up more than half of the cpu cycles. Is this typical on the Pi? Any recommendations on how i could slim things down a bit? I would like this to run continually, updating the mirror about once an hour and serving it up over SAMBA, but it's not much ...
