<r>For those interested, one company (chalk-elec.com) is apparently developping a LCD touchscren and LVDS LCD interface board for the Raspberry Pi.<br/> <br/> I don't know the status, but they already have solutions for Beagleboard and Pandaboard.<br/> <br/> Edit: The hardware for existing boards is...
<t>Just remember the Pi doesnt have a Real time clock, and you'd need to add it.. some may say this is a pain but that would spoil the fun in getting closer to the hacking of the device.<br/> <br/> Personally i think the RTC would be a nice thing to have had on the board along with LVDS but what can...
<t>you could pray that it uses the DSI protocol, and not LVDS (which is far more likely)<br/> <br/> If it uses LVDS you're going to have to find a display converter board to convert to DVI, then plug it into the HDMI port, but those boards are usually upwards of $60.<br/> <br/> It's the same problem...

<r>hello forum,<br/> <br/> I have a significant number of LCD panels from old laptops, so I was disappointed when I saw that the r-pi didn't have an lvds output. Given the fact that we don't (and probably won't) have access to the gpu docs or drivers source code, I have doubts on just how straightfo...
<t>just read through the Raspi as a camcorder thread, provided the link works.<br/> <br/> [linkie]<br/> <br/> From the wiki:<br/> <br/> Interfacing to Camera Module<br/> <br/> is Sony sub-LVDS same as MIPI CSI-2? Sony IMX020 5Mbip module is available for $5-7 (SE K850i replacement camera).<br/> <br/...
Depends on what kind of input the laptop display takes. The Raspberry Pi has output for DSI and HDMI, and component. Here is the bad news (and correct me if I'm wrong here) most laptop screens take LVDS input, the flip side of this is that there are DSI to LVDS bridge chips out there.
<r>I got my boards back from batchPCB the other day. <t>From what I have read LVDS is not a 'proper' standard, in that it isn't very standard!! Meaning know one really knows how this setup will work until its been tried? Hopefully also meaning it might be possible<br/> <br/> Like mightygoose I work in laptop\pc repair and a long time lurker in these f...

<t>I'd like to add my $0.02, although I'm not sure if this is the right place/time...<br/> <br/> I was interested in another thread regarding using iPad displays with the RasPi. The only information that was helpful was that the BC chip apparently provides DSI outputs, and an adapter of some kind wo...
<t>Abishur said: <br/> <br/> <br/> I"ve seen a possible solution on eBay. You"d hook the r-pi up to it via a hdmi->DVI cable and then hook the LVDS cable to the board. <t>I'm chiming in late here, and as a software guy, I too have trouble following much of this thread (especially page 3!).<br/> <br/> But I do think an LVDS interface would be a great accessory to the RPi! I just discovered that iPad replacement screens are available for $65; that's great for a ver...
<t>I'm very interested in this too. I'm trying to make a mini-MAME cabinet (for the curious, I'm starting with an iCade cabinet, but replacing all the electronics, including the iPad). The iPad display has great quality and viewing angle, especially in portrait orientation, and they're available f...
Well, you could convert DSI to LVDS first and from LVDS to just about anything you'd like (VGA, another HDMI or DVI, DisplayPort...) but the cost for a hobbyist to do it would likely exceed the Pi's base price (probably by some order of magnitude if you buy pre-built convertor boxes).
I have been looking around myself but haven't had much luck. It would be ideal if someone would developing something like the LCD LVDS add-on for the Beagleboard http://bb-lvds.blogspot.com/
