Sounds like its worth a go with, the only trouble is prying the kindle off my wife for long enough to use it (unlikely). I guess time will tell how usable it is with the raspberry pi.

For $199, the Kindle Fire looks like a great deal if it's a tablet you want. Start tacking on screens, battery & casing to a RPi and you'll quickly exceed that price point and most likely not have the build quality of an actual produced tablet.
