Re: Undervolt on Pi 2, with 2A supply, why?

Got my 20AWG 8ft long cable today ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KE34A86/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3M1K9LXDRB6PN ) and have been testing it a bit. With loads up to 1A the voltage drop @5.28 in is .10-.13v. Seems that this might just be a good reliable cable. Will have to see h...

Re: USB Wifi Power Draw.

I'm running a Pi2 with a cheap RTL8188CUS wifi adaptor (same chipset as the Edimax), keyboard and mouse without a hub on a Samsung 700mA charger without issue. Maybe yours is faulty ? The Belkin is likely just a power hog, its at least 4 years old. It is a F7D1101 which is based on RTL8188SU. I gue...

How many of us are going to be taking pictures, shining Lasers or any other bright source, on operating RasPii, now that we know there could be an issue? I am putting mine into a case. You make valid points but I believe everyone is just trying to make sure its figured out and everyone wants to con...

Re: The Raspberry Pi 2 Q&A thread

Pi + power hungry WiFi stick + ??? probably needs over 1A, and the price differential between 1A and 2A is minimal, so why take a chance? Availability! 2A plugs off the shelf are still a rare, or an out of stock at best item. More so in quantity if you have more than one device to power. Where the ...

USB Wifi Power Draw.

So I am one of those, "sometimes there is no substitute for seeing something to believe" types. After some of the recent power discussions here I was told that I may have a power issue. Which led to me ordering a 20awg USB cable that should be here tomorrow. Today I saw the story about the Xenon Fla...

This is all really interesting. Hard to believe that this issue slipped through the net. Can't wait to hear the Foundation's response - a bit of damage limitation incoming perhaps? :) In case you haven't noticed, Raspberry Pi engineering has been involved through this thread from the beginning. The increase could be a change in sensor location? Not sure.

Re: RPi Cam Web Interface

I have to say, this works beautifully on the Pi2. With motion running it puts a 12% ding in 2 cores when not recording. When recording, its not much more, right around 15% for both threads. The Raspimjpeg binary takes about 5% while recording.

The Pi2 is the perfect platform for this app now!

20awg which is the largest size in the usb 2.0 spec ought to handle it.

I am ordering one of these now. Will post test results when I get it.

No, it doesn't appear to have been released as yet. Keep an eye on https://github.com/Hexxeh/rpi-firmware/commits/master or https://twitter.com/RPF_Dev_Updates The shift totally depended on the length of the text string and the capture resolution. During video encode the image is split into 128 pix...

Just a wifi dongle? "just"? These are actually the worst "peak impulse current" users you could plug into the USB port... Some WiFi dongles will cause exactly these kind of problems, if you have a bad power cable! Is there any way for us to get statistical data from the brownout detector? I am bein...

Sorry for the delay. I've just emailed Dom a patch to fix the text background filling issue when video recording. Not sure when he'll sort out a firmware update. Has this made it into the current build, because the background is now behaving different. When I manually start a recording it only shif...
