Re: Does autofire work in retroarch?

I figured it out. You need to add "_btn" to the end if controlling via a gamepad.

So doing this works:
input_player1_turbo_btn = “4″

Re: PiFBA released - Final Burn Alpha arcade emulator

bidinou, most modern TVs include a "game" mode, which reduces input lag by cutting down on various video processing. So that's one easy thing to try if you haven't already.

Re: Picodrive under Raspbian

I assume there's an easy way to do it through RetroPie, but that's not the setup I use. There is a fantastic tutorial here if you're interesting in building it yourself: http://www.raspberrypi.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=78&t=56070 I haven't used AdvMenu, but I do like Emulation Station as a frontend....

Re: Picodrive under Raspbian

Why not just have AdvMenu start retroarch's picodrive core (for Genesis) and the mednafen core (for PC Engine) in combination with starting the standalone versions of PiFBA, pisnes, pimame4all (for fba, snes, and mame) That's what I have setup with the Emulation Station front end and it works great....

Re: My Advance Menu setup

antiriad, can you just redirect the output to /dev/null? For example, instead of doing: ./fba2x rom.zip do this: ./fba2x rom.zip > /dev/null 2>&1 It would need to be done every time you launch an emulator. +1 on seeing a writeup for how you did the setup. Also, a video demonstration would also be gr...

Does autofire work in retroarch?

How do I enable autofire (aka turbo button) in retroarch? I tried adding this to my retroarch.cfg file but it didn’t do anything in the fceux core: input_player1_turbo = “4″ input_turbo_period = 6 input_turbo_duty_cycle = 3 According to the comments, while I’m holding button “4″ other button presses...

Re: EmulationStation - an emulator front-end

Thanks Aloshi! Hopefully it's easily reproducible for you or already fixed in the unstable branch. Is the unstable branch actually unstable? I'm tempted to give it a try, especially if there are new features like a delete button. A delete button is a great idea! Being able to star/highlight good gam...

Re: EmulationStation - an emulator front-end

I think I found a bug in emulationstation and was wondering if anybody else could reproduce. I've hit it quite a few times while navigating the games, and just found a reliable way to reproduce. If you press/release"down" (to navigate down a list of games) and very quickly follow it by a quick press...

Diagnosing intermittently stuck directions

Intermittently I've noticed an issue where one of the directions on my dpad appears stuck for 1-2 seconds. The pad doesn't physically appear stuck but whatever I'm running will act as if I'm continuing to press a certain direction. This has happened maybe 5 times in about 5 hours of total usage. At ...

Re: Gamepad dpad question

The problem is that the alternate axis numbers don't seem to work in any emulator. For example, in PiMame4All if I don't have mode enabled and then I try to configure a button via the TAB overlay, nothing will register at all. The only way to get PiMame4All to recognize a dpad keypress is to have th...

Re: Gamepad dpad question

I don't think there are any xbox drivers being used. I didn't install any special drivers for the gamepads and started with the official Raspian image. But good to know about the configuration options for xbox controllers if I ever get one in the future.

Gamepad dpad question

I have two Logitech gamepads (an old Dual Action and new F310), both of which have a mode button that seems to swap the dpad and left stick. For almost every game I want to use the dpad, but some emulators/frontends only recognize the dpad if the mode button is active and the others only recognize t...

Re: PiFBA released - Final Burn Alpha arcade emulator

Have you tried switching the resolution on you pi? (http://elinux.org/RPiconfig#Video_mode_options) You could try putting into VGA mode using: tvservice -e "CEA 1" fbset -xres 640 -yres 480 -vxres 640 -vyres 480 Or maybe pick one of these DMT modes (if you're using a computer monitor): hdmi_mode=4 6...

I'm curious why people consider PiSNES better performing than the pocketsnes core for retroarch. I've been comparing the two for the last couple days and I can't find any performance difference. What I like about using the retroarch core: + Ability to set aspect ratio to whatever I want + Support fo...

2 player support fixed in PiSNES?

I recently discovered PiSNES didn't allow two different keyboard/joypad configurations. So while you can play with two players both players must be using the same button mappings, which is usually problematic if you're using two different types of controllers. I did some searching and just stumbled ...

Supporting multiple joysticks: How is JS0 or JS1 determined?

For awhile I've been using just one gamepad, which I believe was /device/input/js0 and configured as "joystick 1" in various emulators. Tonight I tried added a second gamepad (utilizing a newly purchased powered USB hub) and noticed that the second gamepad was now coming in as JS0 and the original o...
