Re: HDMI to laser

Sorry I forgot to mention I did look at boys tethered to the rpi thing but it wouldn't really work. I could do an auto paying out/ reeling in thing on the body but it's not ideal.

Re: HDMI to laser

Thanks for the reply. I manged to get up to 5cm with 2.4ghz and not quite doubled this with special antennae and as much power as I could get out of a high power WiFi. So I was disappointed but it became clear I was never going to get WiFi to work over this distance. If anyone could help me with a c...

HDMI to laser

Hello, all I've been at this for a while and haven't found a solution that works (and isn't mega bucks). Basically I want to transmit the live stream from the PiCam over a distance of 30 m. All easy so far but the 30m is water. I've tried WIFI including transmitting at powers I shouldn't and having ...

yes that worked as well but I'd already made the start and stop scripts from the previous set up guide so I used them as I knew they worked...

Re: A simple need to run a command on boot!

Ok, I've bottomed it. It was silly mistake on my behalf. I edited /etc/rc.local and added the line sleep 4 sudo /home/pi/mmal/startmotion & The sleep seems to be needed due to ...well I'm not really sure but it appears if you are too quick it can't find some of the folders. It's like the Home folder...

Re: A simple need to run a command on boot!

Hello, all I'm in the same boat as the folks above. For some reason I can't get the Picam mmal motion to run at start up. (not even with the cron method) I've followed the very helpful and clear guide in setting up the PiCam to work with motion. http://rbnrpi.wordpress.com/project-list/setting-up-wi...

Re: Audio popping; OpenELEC, XBMC, or Pi problem?

Sorry for my ignorance but do you mean playing songs off a usb stick or playing audio out through the USB Port? If so what converter did you use to get it back in to analogue for the HiFi ?
Thanks.

Is there nay down side to installing Mplayer ?

Nope can't use VPN.

I need some PHP server side scripting (I think) shame I'm such a noob at it.

Re: Security Camera System

<t>I've noticed OpenVPN do a portable version as well so may be usable at work where I haven't any admin privileges, so I'll certainly give that a bash next time I'm in. Logmein in works great, though not good enough to view IP cams at the remote end.<br/> <br/> I've already set up an apache web ser...

Re: Security Camera System

Thanks for that very detailed easy to follow answer. It appears to be working great. I've done a bit of searching on google and haven't been able to find an easy way to combine say four cameras on a single port. It is obviously possible as zoneminder and others like it do it.

Re: Security Camera System

<t>Glad to see the forum is back....<br/> <br/> I set motion up and yep it works well and fairly easy to set up for the basics. I haven't quite got the idea of how to sent it up to make folders with the date in for storage nor how to do two different streams for recording. At the moment it fills a f...

Re: Security Camera System

<t>xj25vm good pointers there thanks. I had a quick look at the motion software and may give it a go. Not much mention of a web server on though.  I'm using the Atom as well and like you it is doing a few things at the same time. It manages the foscams I've got now but I don't have them all motion d...

Re: Security Camera System

<t>xj25vm what software/cams are you using ? Like I said above I have eight cameras and zone minder and it works. you can spend a lot of time though with motion triggering the situation ideally is no false triggers but guarantee of a trigger if motion is detected and that seems a pretty difficult th...

<t>That's what I'm hoping for JamesH.<br/> <br/> I work with some pretty expensive Ip cams and the cheapest (as I mention above) is around £1000 which is cheap in the professional world. Once you get to 30fps of decent resolution how many you have streaming and recording at any one time becomes sign...
