Re: Pass variable from python script to android widget

Hi Dougie, You've pointed me in the correct direction, thanks. I'm still goggling around to try and get my head round the best way how to do this. You say you need a transport mechanism , I take it you mean something to handle the communications on the PI. I'm still confused as to the correct direct...

Pass variable from python script to android widget

Iv'e been googling around, but got myself very confused. I want to send data from my PI, then display it on my Android phone, using a automatically update able widget. I think the best way of doing this, is to use some form of sockets to pass data from the PI to the phone; but iv'e seen quite a bit ...

Re: find minutes bettween two datetimes

There is no README/INSTALL file.

Iv'e had a look in the makefile, but it doesn't make any sense to me.

Do I just copy the source code, and this makefile, into a directory on my PI, and run the makefile?

If this is the case, where do i copy these files?

Re: find minutes bettween two datetimes

Hi Dougie, Iv'e been doing some digging to try and understand, what i'm doing, rather than just trying to get it to work. The terminal command, sudo apt-get install build-essentials installs a program called build-essentials on my PI. This program gives me the ability to compile C++ and C code then ...

Re: find minutes bettween two datetimes

Hi Dougie, you say, The straight make is trivial . I'm interested how you do this. Iv'e also downloaded the C source code, which consists of three C files and others. print.c / sunriseset.c / main.c / sunriset.h /TAGS / COPYING / makefile Could you please explain, for a novice, how I "make and insta...

Thanks Dougie I'll look into that, Iv'e written a script to control motion via cron, as i gave up trying to use motion's software interface! It can be used to automatically tune motion for day and night. you can find it here. http://raspberrypi.stackexchange.com/questions/14486/control-motion-via-cr...

Re: Motion.conf file for low light

Hi Andrew, you say I'm considering writing a program to automatically modify the config script at sunrise and then again at sunset, so that it sets the values appropriately and then restarts the Motion service. ; that would be very good, and I'd be interested in your script. I'm trying to control th...

Re: Help understanding errors on my pi

Thanks all, I'm looking in the var/log/syslog & var/log/messages to see if my wifi connection has been dropping out. I Googled this message, and it appears it may be a bug in the wifi driver. To be honest its a bit beyond me. I'm nervous about installing a wifi reconnect script, because it took me s...

opps! I misunderstood what threds were for! Once i realized that, o wasn't confused anymore, and managed to get it working - yay! Thanks for po...

Re: Wifi Reconnect on drop

May seem a silly question, but how do you find out if the Pi has drop/ed a wifi connection? I can only connect to my pi over SSH, and for some reason, it occasionally won't connect, so i have no option to pull the power and hope it doesn't corrupt! This script looks good, but don't actually know wha...

Re: transfer pictures from PI to windows PC without SSH

If i copied some jps's to a flash drive, could i see them if i inserted the flash drive into a windows machine; or would i have to use the program http://www.ext2fsd.com/?

I suspect the latter.

Thanks for the link, i'll give it a go,

Reggie.

transfer pictures from PI to windows PC without SSH

Hi all,

I need to get files from the PI image to a windows PC without SSH.

Is it possible to remove the SC card from my pi running LINUX OS and, using some program on my pc, insert the SD card into my PC, so i can copy some files.

Hope so,

Kind regards,

Reggie.

Hi all, I'm trying to use my NOIR camera and have run into some problems.
