Re: Seems slow

Midori is horribly slow. If there was one thing the R Pi really needs it would be a fast full featured browser. The minimal browsers are great but there is some content they won't view. This is not true, at least not for the two browsers I mentioned. They are both based on webkit and display everyt...

What are you looking for: dvb-t, dvb-s(2) or dvb-c?

Re: Seems slow

Try Gomoto's Minimal Web Browser or my Minimal Kiosk Browser (derived from it). A Google search result page is displayed about 3 times as fast as with Midori and 5 times as fast as with chromium. Disabling javascript (default in Gomoto's browser, can be switched on/off from the toolbar) speeds it up...

Re: Minimal Kiosk Browser

There is no flash on the Raspberry Pi and never will be. And everything that uses large amounts of Javascript - especially AJAX pages - will be slow. There is nothing you can do about that. The basic engine is the same as the one used in Midori and Chromium (webkit). But by keeping it simple the bro...

Usually it does not take 72 hours. I received mine within a few hours.

1) Check you spam folder

2) If it's not there, you may have had a typo in your email address. Did you receive a confirmation of your order?

Re: Omxplayer not working, several problems

ad 1) No. You must have started with softfloat debian.

ad 2) I'm not sure which omxplayer version is part of the distribution; I always get the newest version from omxplayer.sconde.net and the newest (matching) firmware using rpi-update.

Re: How to stop a program from LXterminal

Your program is not closed, when you close the terminal, because the process is owned by root. If you open a terminal as root, start the program from there (no sudo needed), it should be stopped, if you close the terminal.

Re: How to stop a program from LXterminal

Don't run the program as root, without "sudo" in front. Then it should stop, when you close the terminal or press CTRL-C.

Re: Web Server to stream audio library

I have a Python based media server (video and audio) running on my Pi, based on an old project from sourceforge, but modified in many ways. It is simple and efficient, creates recursive playlists of any depth on the fly and can be configured in many ways. If I find the time to write the documentatio...

Re: Really Fast Browser Inside! (mp4 video & mp3 audio suppo

Meanwhile I have modified Gomoto's program in so many ways that I have decided to fork my own version from it. I call it "Minimal Kiosk Browser", the binary is named "kweb" and the only script needed (Python) does not conflict with any of Gomoto's scripts. So they can be installed independantly from...

Re: Pi as offline E-learning kiosk?!

I have modified Gomotos minimal web browser into a "minimal kiosk browser", which can run in full screen kiosk mode without going into the desktop system. It uses a static homepage and you can configure that to your needs (a link to the learning system server and a simple shutdown command, for examp...

Re: Foundation Camera Board information

We are not talking about a complex multi-layered lens system, but about a small, simple lens used for mobile phones (mostly consisting of two layers). But to a certain degree you are right: I'm not quite sure, if the "lens chief ray angle = 24 Deg" from the datasheet is identical with the angle of f...

Information and formula used are from here (at the bottom):

One of the biggest producers of imageing chips - they should know what they are talking about.

Funny, how many people answer a post just to express that they know nothing about anything.

Re: Foundation Camera Board information

If we can assume that "lens chief ray angle" = 24 Deg (datasheet), means horizontal field of view, we can calculate that the lens has a focal length of about 8,64 mm - which means that it is a tele lens. So my question to one of the camera testers is simply: can you take a sharp image at a distance ...

mh ,,, I'm still asking for a very simple information, which you can get for any camera lens; minimum object distance and focal lenght. Someone at the foundation must have the lens specs.

@jamesh:

There is one information I could not find anywhere: What is the MOD (minimum object distance) of the camera lens and how large ist the imaging area at minimum distance?

And another question: does the camera software allow to set white point and black point before taking an image?
