Yep, I'm also displeased about my bicycle, because it cannot be used to transport a 200 kg oak cabinet on its carrier.

Try VLC. It may even work using a RPi, if no transcoding is needed.

Re: digital signage homemade doesn't correctly works

It works in Minimal Kiosk Browser (with JavaScript enabled), but all kinds of scrolling, moving or flashing stuff are really too hard for the RPi CPU.

BTW, it's bad for human perception, too.

Ist das konvertieren von MPEG2 in x264 so rechenintensiv? Habe wirklich viele ISO-Datein die ich konvertieren möchte... mfg Ja, aber man könnte es mit der GPU enorm beschleunigen. There seems to be something strange with these videos ... a deeper analysis with mediainfo might help.

Re: HDMI As Audio Out

Yes, this is possible and you will be able to use omxplayer for audio files (takes much less resources than all other audio players). You need some kind of HDMI audio extractor with analog output (they have their own DAC built in), but they cost almost as much as the RPi itself. An USB sound card or...

@Defiant:

This is NOT the Raspbian package version. Didn't you read the title of the thread? We are talking about a newly compiled version of VLC with hardware acceleration, which is not in the repository.

Re: Sound and HDMI setting in raspi-config

SD card corruption does not occur every other day - some RPis are running for more than a year without any corruption.

And there is a much simpler solution: create a backup of your config.txt file and restore it, if you really need to create a new system on SD card.

What I'm attempting to do is to use a web interface (hosted on the pi) from a tablet/netbook/laptop/etc. to play mp3+cdg karaoke files displayed either via HDMI or via composite/analog, and use the web interface to start, stop, pause, etc... VLC has its own web interface (must be enabled). It's one...

This can be done with a simple bash or Python script.

The image quality of omxplayer (using the GPU) is brilliant if the video source material (codec, bit rate etc.) is good enough.

Re: Can VLC be run without a GUI, strictly from the command

check the VLC documentation, especially for the
--interface
option-
With
--interface dummy
you can run it without any interface, but you will not be able to control anything; this is mostly for running VLC as a streaming server.

I have no idea which satellites and channels you use in the UK. This is just an example file for mumudvb. You can create your own from information you'll find on the internet (e. g. kingofsat.net). You will only need 4 values to create a channel config file. Just get the info for one UK HD channel t...
