Re: Raspberry PI2 AD Domain Controller

I've just started playing with Samba as an AD DC - but not on a Pi and I'm looking for an alternative plarform. Anyway, totally irrelevant.

What I did see is that you can use the Windows RSAT tool(s) to administer the domain, even though it is running in Samba. Have you had a look at that?

Re: Problem with samba share at / level

I struggle administering things as a non-root user using sudo all the time as it knocks out using WinSCP and its editor. So much so I ended up setting a root password on the Pi as it was driving me scatty.

I noticed that on DougieLawson's posts but it did not quite sink in.

I guess I didn't notice before as I am normally root when administering my own server.

Re: Problem with samba share at / level

777 was a sledgehammer to try to get it to work. On my own server I have 770 with user and group ownership, not root:root so I'll probably swap to that.

I don't understand why it needs 7 and not 6 but I must have come across that before as it is what I have on my server.

Re: Problem with samba share at / level

I was just checking and it looks like directory permissions were 666 and not 777. Changing them to 777 works. What a waste of time.

Re: Problem with samba share at / level

I did have the homes working but did not want to use them because I log in as nick and my mother's PC (although she does not know it) was logging in as mum. I have an OpenVPN tunnel between her Pi (as a client) and my ClearOS server and I can log in to the Pi by ssh through the tunnel but ssh throug...

Problem with samba share at / level

Hi, I've been trying to create a samba share at root level of the file system, /familyshare and I've had real problems with it. I've tried all sorts of definitions such as: [raspberrypi] comment = Pi share path = /familyshare public = no valid users = @family,nick,mum browseable = yes writeable = ye...

Re: Cannot exit browser

I/ve been back in and this time the browser is displayed correctly with the zoom set to -4%. The TV is set to 16:9 and I have not found any overscan options. That's the good bit. The bad bit is that the browser went into a restart loop again. Although I am new to it, I have a feeling I should be pos...

Re: Cannot exit browser

I can get the desktop to fit by adjusting Settings > Appearance > Skins > Zoom to -4%, but it does not affect the browser which is so big I cannot see any of the word File in the menu.

I'll try to read up about the overscan settings.

Re: Cannot exit browser

I found an answer elsewhere - to pull the SD card and remove lines pointing to the browser from config.txt. It does not sort out the browser size issue, but I am avoiding it for the moment.

Cannot exit browser

Hi, I got my new toy today, loaded Raspbmc and I went to the browser to see how to set it up as a DLNA client. Anyway now I cannot exit the browser, or, at least, when I do it just restarts. Pulling the plug does not help either. As a secondary issue I resized the screen (-4%) which works when navig...
