Re: WiFi Access Point in Jessie

Thanks rurwin. That mostly worked, as good as I had before with Wheezy and so I can use it. I added the following lines to /etc/dhcpcd : interface wlan0 static ip_address=192.168.42.1/24 static routers=192.168.42.1 static domain_name_servers=192.168.42.1 My only doubt as to whether I have set things...

WiFi Access Point in Jessie

In the past I have successfully connected to my robot by configuring its RPi2B "brain" as a wireless access point using this tutorial http://elinux.org/RPI-Wireless-Hotspot , using Rasbian Wheezy OS. I have just completed the task of transferring all the software over to a new install of Jessie, mai...

[Solved] PS3 controller and Jessie, anybody got it working?

My DiddyBorg robot can be manually controlled with a PS3 controller. My Rpi B2 is installed in the robot and is currently working well with a fully updated "Wheezy" OS. The PS3 communicates via Bluetooth using QtSixA drivers and the axis and buttons are interpreted as Pygame events. For obvious reas...

Re: Remote controlled robot software

I'm afraid there is no short cut for you here, you will need to learn to program, I would suggest using Python, and it may take you some time. The things that you need your robot to do are all achievable but they are not easy if you have not built up your programming skills. It may be best to buy a ...

Re: Enable OpenGL on Raspbian Jessie for OpenCV

Yes, I found that installing libgl1-mesa-dri did work when using a connected monitor and "startx". However it would not work headless (on my set-up) with TightVNC with its virtual desktops. My solution to running Opencv headless (necessary with my robot) is to use x11vnc which mirrors the "true" des...

Re: Showing Opencv image in Pygame

No response, so I assume that there is no way to "pipe" an image directly from Opencv to Pygame, pity. However, I have solved the problem with Jessie not displaying a "cv2.imshow()" image. After installing "libgl1-mesa-dri" I managed to get an Opencv window to display on an HDMI monitor. "Tightvnc" ...

Showing Opencv image in Pygame

I am using Pure Python picamera to stream images taken by the Pi Camera to Opencv which then carries out some processing including drawing contours etc. I am currently displaying these using cv2.imshow, not a problem in Wheezy but for some reason it will not work in Jessie. I am thinking I can get r...

Back power Pi through Gertboard?

Sorry if this has been answered previously but I'm just too lazy to go through all the old topics :) . My Pi is built into a robot and is back powered through the GPIO pins. I want to add a Gertboard which of course then blocks the pins on the Pi, hence my query. If not I can use a PiRack but it's n...

Re: Screen and RPi B Rev 2

Great news, I finally got it to work!
Not sure what I had wrong as I didn't change anything, it just worked the next time I plugged up. I suspect that I hadn't pushed one of the jumper leads fully onto the pins, despite many checks.
Thanks for your help.

Re: Screen and RPi B Rev 2

OK, or rather not OK. sudo rpi-update carried out. Rebooted (several times) i2c disabled (in raspi-config) All connections checked, rechecked and re-rechecked. Nothing. Connected HDMI and it's "blatantly obvious" that the 7" display is not being detected. A couple of things from your post, "vcgencmd...

Thanks 6by9. Which procedure exactly were you following - you don't say. The official display docs are at https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentati ... /Readme.md That was the link I was following. It looks as though the problem may be that I perhaps had previously enabled IC2 on the particular SD car...

Re: Screen and RPi B Rev 2

Enabled IC2, although I was pretty sure I'd previously done it. Still no response from the screen. I tried powering the Pi from the display board via the GPIO pins as set out in the article. The Pi powers up so I know the display board is "live" (although that's pretty obvious as it works on my Pi 2...

Screen and RPi B Rev 2

Tonight I finally found some spare time to try out the I2C work around to enable the screen with my Pi B rev 2. I updated and upgraded the Rasbian ("Wheezy") on the SD card, connected the jumper leads (2 no.) to the SDA and SDL pins on both the display and the Pi, powered the screen and the Pi from ...

Picamera, Opencv, Xming and Python

I would be grateful if someone could explain the following behaviour and hopefully suggest a solution. I am trying to transfer my (working) robot control script from a Rasbian Wheezy installation to a new Jessie installation on another SD card. I am using a RPi 2, Python 2.7 and Opencv 2.4.9.1. I am...

Have you left it running for some time? I had this problem with a new Pi 2 and I found that the HDMI would eventually work after leaving it running for half an hour or more. The retailer kindly replaced it for me as it was clearly faulty.

Re: Longer DSI ribbon

As I mentioned in another thread, it works with my 2 metre flat cable. However, it does seem sensitive to too many loops in the cable, for instance wrapping part of the cable around a cardboard cylinder (no prizes for guessing the provenance) to keep it tidy definitely will give some problems. I ass...
