Re: Can I set video mode to av on Pi model 1

That didn't work. Fresh copy of both pCP then moode with no HDMI connection just av and nothing. The 7" monitor can cycle through vga, hdmi and av but nothing came over av. I normally run my piCorePlayer + LMS on a headless RPiB+ (yes I do mean B+, not 3B+). I've just now connected its AV jack to m...

Re: Is it OK to use a 6 port usb desktop charger to power multiple pis?

In addition to what was said above... The device needs to be able to supply 5v at the desired current (3A for a Pi4B, 2.5A for a Pi3B/B+, etc.) at the same time. Don't just go by the single port maximum. Check the power rating for the whole unit. To power 6 Pi4Bs you want it to deliver 18A at 5v. T...

RPis prior to RPi4B normally automatically output to the AV jack if an HDMI display is not plugged in at boot time.

Indents matter in python. To preserve them in a post use the Code tags. For example

Without seeing the project instructions and what you have done, any suggestions as to why it is not working are 100% guesswork.

Re: Complete beginner - Garage Door Dedection

IMO, a 3B+ is overkill, if it's only task is to monitor the garage door. A Pi0WH (with headers installed, so no soldering) will suffice. I monitor my entry doors with Pi0Ws + Pi Cameras + Pikrellcam. Works great. Your use case will probably use much less CPU and memory than mine. True, but bloat an...

Re: Can i upgrade LPDDR4 4GB or 8GB form RPi4 (2GB)?

Q. Do you think, if it was possible to have an 8GB device this easily, we would already be selling an 8GB device? No. From a marketing point of view it would be far too expensive to sell. if it is possible to sell mains cable to Hi-Fi nutters at £25 per 0.25 metres (https://www.hificollective.co.uk...

Hello,

First i tried it with Libreelec USB-SD Creator.

When that didn't work i tried it with the .img and wrote it with Diskimager.
Did you extract the img file from the download before using Win32DiskImager? Balena Etcher can work directly from the gz file.

Re: Complete beginner - Garage Door Dedection

Hi. You could also do this using 2 magnetic switches one reporting closed and one reporting open, you could then have your pi send an email upon opening and upon closing of the door. You could do this using the pi gpio and python. Such switches are commonly used in alarm systems. eg https://www.eba...

Understood and I agree. Not pushing the limits. I plan to have no more then (10) HDD's and (2) USB-7port Hubs = 12 connected devices. I should be OK..... theoretically!! However, IIRC, so-called "7-port hubs" are two 4-port hubs "in series" ie. hub1 port4 feeds/connects to the input of the ...

Re: How to bypass light sensor to turn on a IR-Cut filter from a GPIO pin?

Maybe the mechanism is a toggle like the push at the top of a retractable ball-point pen. Try GPIO high briefly and return to low. Then repeat that. Does the filter change twice?

Re: Fixing the Pi 4 usb C issue by hand

AIUI the RPi does not really care about the other pins of its USB-C socket if only being used for 5 volt power input. The Pi 4B does take CC1 and CC2 to PD_SENSE which is read by an ADC channel on the PMIC. What the firmware does with that information I have no idea. I worded my sentence carefully....

Would appear to be a gateway problem. How has the IP configuration of the RPi been done? DHCP or static?

Is this on your home network or in somewhere else such as school/college/university/workplace?
