Re: This forum is insane

It would be nice if the topic title could be changed to read "These forums are quite busy".

The misuse of "insane" isn't really any more acceptable than the misuse of "gay".

I never clear cookies. The force-login isn't that often.

I currently have 11 cookies from raspberrypi.org with a range of expiry dates on them from today and tomorrow all the way up to 2020.

Re: very absurd problem with if

Try print ">"+usb+"<" to see if there's anything else in there. I've been stung with leading or trailing spaces in the past...

edit: is usb a number or a string? You're comparing it to "2" which is a string...

Re: Tried steps for setting Pi 3 to boot up from USB HD, not working though

Hi, I had similar problems when trying to do this with a WD PiDrive - see here: https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=194802 In the end I never managed to get a reliable boot (maybe 1 in 10 worked), and resorted to leaving a card in the pi pointing to the mountpoints on the drive. ...

Simply: by usb hub containing a usb to network port Less Simply: by usb hub + a usb to network adapter They look at bit like this one. I don't know whether this one has a pi compatible chipset - so please just use it for information about the sort of thing you can get. https://www.aliexpress.com/ite...

Re: where do i buy a fan for this nes case?

I can't answer your question, as although I've used raspberry pi boards in cases for years I've never seen a need for a fan.

So, to answer a question with a question: do you need a fan?

Re: Most advisable lightweight Web server

I've found getting CGI programs to run with lightty is a pain. I've got a mix of Apache2, Lighttpd and NGinx across my 14 raspberries. Hmm - I didn't have any problems setting up for Perl. I did want to run the scripts along a http://domain/name path rather than http://domain/cgi-bin/name path and ...

It may be cheaper and simpler in the long run to look for a dedicated solution. I've successfully used something like this where I had ethernet and no wifi on a device: https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_nkw=VONETS+VAP11G

Re: pi zero w in quantities of 10...50

Yup. We can't know whether the pin-populated Zeros being sold in bulk were sold in bulk to the retailer at significantly higher unit price than they get the "sell at $5" ones, and they're just passing on the cost + adding their selling margin or whether they got them at the "sell at $5" price, are a...

Re: pi zero w in quantities of 10...50

It is always claimed there is little profit made on a Pi so just add whatever profit a Pi 3B does make to the Zeroes and sell at that price. Done. If you require Raspberry Pi Zero in bulk, ModMyPi allow up to 20 unit purchases of the Raspberry Pi Zero with pre-soldered headers. Same with Rasperry P...

Re: pi zero w in quantities of 10...50

..just add whatever profit a Pi 3B does make to the Zeroes and sell at that price. The profit would then be the same whether making Zeroes or Pi 3B's, the Foundation's revenue stream would not be adversely impacted. Everyone wins. I'm pretty sure I suggested this some time back. We want the foundat...

Ahh - OK. You having two threads doesn't help.

Raspbian lite is fine where you're comfortable with a command line interface and don't need a desktop GUI interface.

It sounds like you need to download and install "Raspbian Stretch with desktop" from https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/raspbian/

Could the two be linked with your slowness? Is it damaged and now throttling down? Someone here can probably tell you how to find out.

Or do a search for "Raspberry pi Cobbler" - that will bring up a whole range of connectors from Pi to breadboard which combine the benefits of the previous post with actually getting the connections on your breadboard.

(I just use jumper wires myself - but the cobbler boards probably make it safer!)
