Re: Raspi hat blocks all the gpio pins

I'd like to see an official specification for hat-like boards that can be stacked - that specifies a way to get the best possible stacking where this is possible (probably more around using the different serial bus options than general GPIO): pin usages/I2C address selection/pullup-downs etc

Re: STICKY: NEW FORUM SKIN - Comments here please.

the index pages do fall apart a bit. (Columns on the right side don't connect visually to the title on the left). Hmmm. I don't use the indexes that much. "New posts" all the way for me. The CSS for the indexes is a little odd. Anything that ends up needing a margin-right of -440px, with other plac...

So, I don't want to install Stylish (security concerns). Can I still install the update? How? I'm not aware of any concerns with stylish (https://www.ghacks.net/2017/01/04/major-stylish-add-on-changes-in-regards-to-privacy/) - I've used it since it was initially written with no issues that I've see...

( To install: https://userstyles.org/styles/145762/piglet-raspberry ) Piglet, Your fix apparently addresses two of the three available themes. The question is about the RPI theme, which I don't think your fix covers. I''ve just installed on another computer from the userstyles.org link above and th...

It should be fine to do anything at the temperatures you quote. You can't do a complete job; -273C isn't possible.

Yay! Glad it was helpful. That's what I like about stylish - it lets you try out CSS changes to sites you're testing/commenting on before being able to suggest specific changes that you know make things better. It's also nice for fixing the look on your own screen of fugly sites that have good conte...

Re: STICKY: NEW FORUM SKIN - Comments here please.

I do love phpBB - for quite a few years I helped admin several forums using it. The only word of warning I'd have is that because it's so widely used it's really quite a magnet for script kiddies and if you're not really up to date things get ugly rather fast as soon as the next exploit is found.

If you're meaning something like this https://www.min.at/prinz/?entry=entry150323-165443 then add to the list:

4. Turn on the switch and burn your house down.
5. Remain homeless when the insurance refuses to pay out.

I wouldn't bother with fan or heatsink with that case unless you are intending to run the processor flat out all the time.

I only put a heatsink on mine because it looked nicer like that :)

Re: Raspberry PI Zero (W) - Why no audio???

Most people would use the audio from the HDMI channel, which is much better than PWM audio. I really don't agree that most people would use audio from HDMI unless they're using it as an XBMC box on their TV. My guess is that far more people would prefer to use a standard stereo jack to get sound ou...

Interesting. Yes all valid points. Perhaps someone should invent a small and affordable computer which people can use to learn how to code properly. That'd be a good start. Next step would be people who know how to code efficiently passing on their knowledge and expertise. I think this is where the ...

Collective punishment in schools?

Not sure whether to post here or in off topic. I plumped for here. One of my children (8) who loves learning is getting more and more upset about school. She isn't naughty - though is the first to say that she isn't always perfectly behaved. She's significantly intelligent and has older siblings...b...
