Proxy settings - access net in terminal

Hi I`m trying to use the raspi from behind a proxy at work (school). I have followed the following info: Proxy support for browsers etc… sudo nano /etc/environment export http_proxy=”http://YOU.R.IP.ADR:PORT” Proxy support for APT… sudo nano /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/10proxy Acquire::http::Proxy “http://Y...

PiBow - screw down and access gpio?

Hi guys. I've done some googling and like the look of the pibow for use in schools, looks funky and looks solid. Is it possible to screw the entire case down to mdf, I.e the surface, as much as I hate to say it but just to make it a little harder to walk off with? Also, is there access to the GPIO f...

Pi Projects from school to the web for parents to see

Hi, We are having some funds donated by our PTFA to purchase some Pi`s for the library. As part of it, I would like to have a simple project with an extra pi to link to the school website so that parents can "see" a Pi being used or they can interact with one located in school from home. I`m not sur...

Re: £600... what would you order?

I massively appreciate your time and effort in your reply but sadly I haven't a clue what the heck any of that means and I'm sure as hell IT won't help me set that up. If my pis can not connect to the internet then they are useless and the project is a no go. So what is the difference between allowi...

Re: £600... what would you order?

Oh my! :? My head hurts. The school appropriately filters all internet access through the firewalls etc and as far as I can see, I don't see why my RasPi users should have any different access than the desktop PC that will be connected to the network that will be sat next to my Pis. Consequently, I ...

Re: £600... what would you order?

Hi guys, I massively appreciating your replies. I am reading, listening and taking notes. A huge update - I have secured, for no cost, 3x Philips brand new in box V-Line 19.5" DVI monitors! I am now incredibly pleased. My budget has expanded to £600 for 3x RasPi with accessories minus the cost of mo...

Re: £600... what would you order?

If I could make be to get VGA monitors second hand - is it worth going down the route of converters? I heard they can be hit and miss with VGA? If I could get 3 monitors donated, it would be saving £180!! (Then minus adapters)

Re: £600... what would you order?

Just looking into this and near £300 - half the budget will be on three monitors!! That is a huge dent.

Cheapest RasPi suitable new Monitor

Hi, I have a school budget allowing me to purchase some Pi`s (3-6) but I have to purchase a brand new monitor for each which is going to eat away at my budget. The cheaper I can get the monitor the more I have to spend on pi and peripherals. Because I am purchasing for a school, it needs to be new a...

£600... what would you order?

We want some raspberryPi`s for our learning zone (aka library) so that students can book them and "experiment" at break and lunch in their own time! They can also be used in clubs and I do have the intention of running a RasPi club after school. I am a hobby PIC programmer and arduino users so have ...

Pi Case - lock down with access to pins

Hi guys I`ve just ordered 3 raspPi for our school library and they will be booked out by students to use at lunch or break. Security IS NOT a huge issue, but it would be good to purchase a case that allows it to be screwed/locked/clipped/secured to the desk in one position so it does not flop around...

Raspberry Pi in the Library

I am considering placing a bid to our PTFA to purchase a number of RasPi's for our library. An option would be to purchase 10-15 and have them flexible to move between departments or rooms but I don't believe they will be used. My preferred option is to purchase only 5 or 6 and also a box of add-on ...
