Re: I need somebody to check if these parts are compatible.
You're joking right? As ridiculously inane as it is for those of use who know, it's not so much so for those who don't. As such, no, I do not believe they're joking. My stepfather, for instance, still has trouble knowing whether he can charge his mobile phone with its supplied usb cable, in certain...

Re: 5V on test points but still undervoltage lightning bolt
Hi everyone, I'm using a Raspberry Pi 3B with the 7'' touch screen. Powering the Pi via USB2.0 works fine and the test point PP7 ( https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=89522&p=628505&hilit=pp12%2Bpp13#p628505 ) shows 5V. However, when I use a Power Supply at 12V going...

Re: Plex Or emby or Kodi for the rasberry Pi
OSMC is almost dead Libreelec is the go to for Kodi on raspberry pi now, I have plex running on a 3B just to serve pictures and music around the house and it works great for that, but I've often found it finicky when it comes to video files. Good luck on whichever one you decide on. P.S. As an added...

Re: Access pi from android devise through proxy server.
Don't cave yet, there's a work around if you don't want to use motion to serve up the feeds. You will need to get ES Explorer Pro(a file manager) and setup an sftp server conncetion in the network tab. In connectbot setup a port forward, the type will be "local" pick any port number you wa...

Are you running connectbot:https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.connectbot&hl=en_US or VX connectbot (the enhanced version):https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=sk.vx.connectbot&hl=en_US If you want file transfer you will need to use vx connectbot. It has scp built into...

connectbot has scp built in, while connected to your pi click the drop down menu and you should have an option to download and upload files.

What file format is this string of characters? Is it a .txt file or something similar, if that's the case you can use nextcloudpi to sync the devices via wifi.

Re: Can't connect webserver to WAN but LAN works
My ISP blocks 80 and 443 by default for residential subscribers(they frown on residential subscribers hosting web servers), and since I am running nextcloudpi I ran into a similar issue. It's a rather simple fix though, and it seems you are half way there. This list should help:https://en.wikipedia....

Re: Sterilization of Pi
All good information, but I think he is using the wrong terminology. I think he is asking if a Pi can be made intrinsically safe("it is import that the Raspberry Pi Zero W cannot in anyway cause an ignition"), not actually sterilized, as in "surgically cleaned". There are differe...

Re: Access pi from android devise through proxy server.
Now that I know what proxy you are trying to use, you need to use the first app i told you about. If you go to the Yaler web site there is plenty of information to help you along. How to set up your pi, how to access your pi via ssh and vnc, and how to setup connectbot android app. Here is a link to...

Re: What pi, what OS, for Kodi media server only.
At the risk of hijacking this thread, I recently dug up my original model B and tried to run Kodi on it, but it was painfully slow. I really didn't like having it just sitting around collecting dust so I ended up settling on running pihole on it, which works great. I have 3 pi's each individually ta...

Re: Access pi from android devise through proxy server.
I looked at this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.evanhe.proxymanager I'm assuming that you have a local port open to your pi on your router, and ddns setup pointing at you pi. This app will allow you to connect to a proxy server and then depending on how you want to access you...

Re: Using Raspberry Pi as access to a VPN router
If all you are wanting to do is not have to hook up a LAN cable to your laptop to access your work VPN, which it looks as if you are allowed to do already. Set your PI up as a wireless AP that's connected to your VPN router via the LAN cable you are trying to avoid, then all you will need to do is c...

Sorry but no, been using Kore since the day i found it, you shouldn't sell you wife short. Just the fact that she will even use Kodi is a win, you should let her try it and see how she what she thinks about the app. My wife can barely use our DVR much less use Kodi.

Not sure about any codex issues, but the best remote i've found by far is the Kore app for Android and iOS. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.xbmc.kore&hl=en_US If you have an old android tablet or phone with and IR transmitter you can make your own universal remote with the righ...

The 3B+ is the only pi with gigabit lan so that would be my choice pi, and if Kodi is the familiar interface then https://libreelec.tv/ is your best bet.
