Re: ALSA issue: Not being able to resume (or restart!) playback after it has been paused for some time
My question is what medium are you playing the music from, a hard drive or a usb drive? If you are playing from a hard drive I'd suggest installing hdparm(http://man7.org/linux/man-pages/man8/hdparm.8.html) and before you try to unpause your playback check to see what state your hard drive is in at ...

What you are describing is a captive portal not a firewall. Look here:

Re: Nextcloud on apache 2
I'll admit that I didn't read through this post line for line, but might i suggest that you start with the nextcloudpi image here: https://ownyourbits.com/nextcloudpi/ It has everything already setup and working for you, you can use "letsencrypt" to get signed certificates(unless your ISP ...

Re: Wireless SSD storage?
https://ownyourbits.com/nextcloudpi/ Nextcloudpi image is what you want to use, works just like Dropbox, and you can easily use it to keep files updated across all machines. I use it to keep my keepass database updated across all my devices, works like a charm. Flash the nextcloudpi image to your sd...

Re: HDD Ext4 is not recognized
Try adding "rootdelay=25 rootwait" to the end of the cmdline.txt. Your drive may not intialize fast enough for your pi to see the drive is there. If the drive works in windows and Linux it should work with your Pi since raspbian is based on debian. if you Have a Pi 3 you may have to increa...

Re: HDD Ext4 is not recognized
Yes looks as if the drive itself is bad, but the usb controller seems to be working. You could always swap in another drive to test the controller if you have another laying around.

Re: HDD Ext4 is not recognized
What does the output of lsusb say, if your power supply isn't putting out enough power to spin up the drive those commands won't return anything. But even if that's the case, your PI should still see the USB controller. Try using a powered usb hub to power the drive and connect the hub to your PI wi...

Re: I broke my Raspberry pi (maybe)
I have an old card that is finicky, i have to use the official sd card formatter to reformat the card before i can use etcher to flash a new image.
Download this and see if formatting your card with this utility helps.

Re: Problem with boot from USB on raspberry pi 3 b+
Are you mounting the devices by UUID or PARTUUID in /etc/fstab? If not, and you are instead using /dev/sda* then that's your problem. There is no guarantee a given device will be assigned the same /dev/sdx ID from boot to boot (unless it's the only USB storage device). You'll need to edit both /etc...

Re: Problem with boot from USB on raspberry pi 3 b+
You will need to use a USB hub if you connect more than one hard drive to a pi. The in rush of current needed to get 2 hard drives up and spinning is too high to have any current left to actually boot the pi.

I have found Plex to be extremely picky about video format. The only format that I've found that it picks up every time without fail is AVI.

Re: Openvpn + bridging
From the way I read that guide that's what you'll get, your pi will connect to the VPN through your phone and you can go from the Pi's Ethernet to the wan port on a router. All your traffic will go out over Nord VPN, but I don't think you will be able to access your network from outside unless you s...

Re: Setting up the rpi as a nas to offload files over vpn
I edited my smb.conf with nano in command line. I did not use the nextcloud webgui, i have to say that I originally started with the link that i sent you about setting up a file server. Some of the settings i use are from previous trial and error running that file server. I tried to install owncloud...

Re: Setting up the rpi as a nas to offload files over vpn
Are your drives only connected to your Pi? I have 3 drives connected to my pi, i boot from one and run nextcloud and plex media server on that drive. I mount two other drives in fstab at /media/usbhdd1 and /media/usbhdd2. usbhdd1 is my working drive where i have my nextcloud sync directory and usbhd...
