Re: NEW: Darkplaces Quake engine up and running on Raspberry

Hello,
I'd like to enjoy Darkplaces on RPi3.

Are "unofficial" SDL 2.X (2.0.4, 2.05) needed for better performance, or since the engine is yet GLES optimized I can build it with SDL2 in the official Jessie repository?

Thanks!

Re: SDL2 version 2.0.4 package availability

Hello,
a lot of projects are "switching" to SDL2 (e.g. Chocolate DOOM V3) and a lot of other great projects that could run on RPi are unusable because of "broken" SDL2 support on Jessie (e.g. Quakespasm).
Maybe some skilled user could share SDL2 2.05 in an "unofficial" repository?

Thanks

Quakespasm and DOOM Retro on Rpi3 (help)

Hi, I'd really like some help to enjoy these two source ports on Raspberry Pi. Quakespasm is available in Raspbian Jessie repository, but I get a "Couldn't load video device" error when I try to run it in CLI... perhaps due to GLES acceleration? DOOM Retro is a minimalist, refined DOOM source port b...

Re: HOWTO: Create Custom HDMI modes

Maybe I should contact Andrea directly, or start a new thread about Advance MAME 3.0. Do you know whether Andrea has an account on this forum? For sure you can start a new thread on AdvanceMAME forum but I can't understand what do you mean with "specific Raspberry Pi functionalities". Previous vers...

Here the changelog.

The documentation of AdvanceMAME for Linux is now valid also for RPi.

Re: HOWTO: Create Custom HDMI modes

Hi antiriad ... Hi Grasshopper2, just take a look at latest AdvanceMAME release (3.0) with official Raspberry support . If properly set (after setting device_video_clock , also display_adjust should be set to generate_ ) it gives real native resolution with vcgencmd (of course only on HDMI and GPIO...

Re: HOWTO: Create Custom HDMI modes

Hi, it seems that we are trying to achieve the same goal by different starting points. On the Recalbox forum I proposed to use the VGA 666 as "breakout" for CRT TV ( ironic-FR , I'm Scandy ;) ). Then I saw on Youtube the video of d33pblue . At least for arcade emulation, IMHO there is no need to sea...

I know that (wonderful) link yet.
But downscaling will add more input lag to a (budget) system that already has this kind of problems.

I see more probable a GPIO > SCART RGB adaptor in 240p...

Exactly. Why is this not possible on rPi? It is a firmware limitation?

Thanks

Re: Rpi 1 composite and resolution

Ok, but video game consoles of the 80's and 90's had composite with custom PAL and NTSC resolutions.
So is this a software limitation of rPi?

Rpi 1 composite and resolution

Hi, I know that my good old rPi 1 can output only standard SDTV resolutions (PAL or NTSC) on composite. Is this a hardware or software limitation? It would be great if it could be possible to set a native custom resolution on composite (not using framebuffer options). E.g. a lot of retrogaming emula...

Questions about Raspberry Pi 3 and emulation

Hi, In the past I played a lot with a rPi 1 and I'm considering to buy a more powerful rPi 3. But, if possibile, I have some questions: - is rPi 3 powerful enough to run some early 90's arcade games (like Golden Axe, Undercover Cops, Shadow Force etc.) in full speed with Advance MAME? (they are not ...

Re: VICE - Commodore 64 Binary

AmigaGamer/KitchUK Good Point! The Joystick port 'swap' isn't an issue as it can be changed from the Menu (assessable by Joypad). However, as suggested many Disc Images available do contain Demo/Loader Screens (created by the Teams who 'Cracked' the original Titles, common back on the C64/Amiga/Ata...

Hi Patrick! As usual THANK YOU VERY MUCH for all your great work on rpix86. :) Unfortunately I have a strange problem with the latest release (or maybe it is a problem of my new keyboard) so I can't enjoy rpix86. Hi, I would like some suggestions, if possible, about EmulationStation 2.0 on Raspberry Pi. Would you suggest EmulationStation 2.0 on a Raspberry Pi connected to a small CRT Tv via composite cable? Re: RetroArch on Raspbian: the tutorial

Hi, Antiriad. I don't think it's possible to have a physical 320x240 or similar, old console-native video mode, because I don't see them listed here: http://elinux.org/RPiconfig So setting a 320x240 buffer size would, I guess, render the game in a small screen area in one of the supported video mod...

Is this emulator newer then the FCEUMM libretro (Retroarch) core?
It is possible to configure joypad in command-line?
