Re: DOSBox 0.74-3 MSDOS x86 emulator

You build DOSBox-SVN using the instructions included in this DOSBox build guide that I wrote. ... Thank you very much, good to know that DOSBox-SVN has dynrec activated by default. Also I suppose it is useless to target an ARMV8LE cpu (even if I'm on RPi4, OS is still 32 bit). It is suggested to un...

Re: DOSBox 0.74-3 MSDOS x86 emulator

Hello, I'd like to build Dosbox-SVN with dynarec support on my Raspberry Pi 4 . I'll follow these steps: Download the latest svn version of dosbox here: https://sourceforge.net/p/dosbox/code-0/HEAD/tree/dosbox/trunk/ Unpack it somewhere, then in the directory run: ./autogen.sh ./configure --disable-...

Re: Why is dosbox with OpenGL drawing so slow?

Thank you for your kind feedback!
So I'll go for Dosbox-SVN with arm dynarec and output surface.

There is a way to check if arm dynarec is active in the binary after building the source?

Thanks

Re: Why is dosbox with OpenGL drawing so slow?

Hello,
I've read that article, but is DosBox-X the best choice for performance in RPi4?
It is more accurate, OK, but this means that it could also be slower. Moreover in the article it's build "as-is" with no dynrec etc... I don't know... :|

Re: Why is dosbox with OpenGL drawing so slow?

Hello, I'm using DosBox on Raspberry Pi 4, actually installed via apt-get (official Raspbian repository). May I ask, please: 1. which is the "best" (in terms of performance but also of updated code) version of DosBox for RPi4? (standard DosBox from repository/ SVN etc.) 2. which is the "best" vidoe ...

It seems that we are trying to achieve the same objective (but with not so good results by my side, with RPi4 and VGA 666)
Maybe you'll find interesting this thread on LAKKA forums:

I was struggling for a while to get a super resolution working on a RPi4 with the RetroTINK (like a VGA666 but 24-bit/888). I finally got it working with these settings:

Hello Kevin,
may I ask if you are currently using this super-resolution with the CRT Switchres feature in LAKKA?

at least I won't go crazy trying to fix this anymore and I'll just keep using my pi 3! I have come to the same conclusion. But let me say, at least, that it's really sad that analogue output is no longer "supported" properly, this was the feature that personally made the RPi "special" compared to o...

Re: STICKY: Using a Gert VGA 666 adapter - [HOWTO]

I don't have any hardware at hand to test with, however having an odd number in any of the horizontal values will have issues. The pipeline on the pi4 runs at 2 pixels per clock, so inserting odd values would require switch output phase mid cycle. Most displays are tolerant of being out by one on t...

I did rpi-update a week ago, and I can't get dpi_mode=87 working (I'm using a VGA666). I'll check again.

May I ask which command related to KMS driver should be present in config.txt? (kms, fkms...)

Hello Gert,
thank you very much for your feedback.
It was me that opened the issue on GitHub.

If this is a hardware-related problem, why does it happen only on Raspbian Buster and/or RPi 4, and not on Raspbian Stretch / RPi 3?

Thank you
