Re: Static IP address templates for dhcpcd.conf

Not sure what you mean by search list The search list is another parameter in /etc/resolv.conf which contains the domain suffix(es) to check when an incomplete domain name is used as input. You typically use this within the local domain by entering a hostname without the fqdn. I tested your paramet...

Re: Static IP address templates for dhcpcd.conf

On one of my Pi's I'm running Jessie 2017-01-11. Setting a fxed ip is extensively documented and I can confirm it works. However, I'm struggling to also set fixed values for the domain name and the search list. I got the domain name inserted by adding it to /etc/resolvconf.conf: domain = mydomain.lo...

Probably better add these too:

Sad but true: these days the most hacks & portscan attempts originate from China.
Could also be botnets using zombie-clients from china but the result is the same.

Your system is broken. Start with a fresh download of Jessie Lite 2017-03-02. Well since i already tried with 3 different lite versions i figured it was something else. So what happend was that, when i work directly against the raspberry with connected keyboard and monitor i get the problem i descr...

thx, but ofc i used sudo. i even tried as root. Still you must be doing something wrong. It may not help you directly but I've installed two images this week and they both worked flawless. Did you install the latest image from raspberrypi.org or from elsewhere, i.e.github or similar? Are you runnin...

Re: rPi3 fresh install, no ssh connection via wired Ethernet

By pure coincidence I just tested the latest jessie image on an old model 2B, the version with only two usb ports. I was somewhat annoyed to find that ssh is initially disabled as described here: https://www.raspberrypi.org/blog/a-security-update-for-raspbian-pixel/ It is amazing to how far the foun...

Re: 3d Printer host software?

I'm also really happy with Octoprint. My printer is an Anet A8 so nothing like a professional device. Athough it wasn't listed as a supported printer it was no problem to connect it. The (very cheap) webcam that I had laying around worked as well which is really remarkable. Never before did I come a...

You are probably missing the domain part.
Add this to /etc/resolv.conf:

Code: Select all

search your.domain

Re: Router update causes fail of bind9

All dns servers will cache requests for a configurable time for reasons of efficiency. This is normal behaviour. The expected reply to a dyndns request in a home environment should always be the router WAN address because that's what identifies your network on the internet. When connecting from the ...

Re: Realy Control Quesion

A boiler like that draws a lot of current. Make sure your relay is able to handle that.
Regulations will probably require you to switch both wires (phase and zero) and actually this is also the best/safest way to do this.
It only means your relay must have two sets of contacts.

No microUSB wifi dongles available, but you COULD get http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00R87KAQW And stick a normal one on the end. I believe that would work. The Swag store, Pimoroni and others are selling the Zero with an (optional) kit with various connectors and adaptor cables for an extra f...

Re: Send command from web page

Two issues to check:
1: .sh file needs a shebang-line to start with:

Code: Select all

#!/bin/bash
2: Starting with "http://" doesn't work (at least not for me). It has to be like in the example I posted.

Re: 5v relay board 3v lights

A 5V relay board generally means the relay's coil is controlled with 5Volt. That's one of the specifications of a relay. Another spec is the switching capability which could be something like 250V/10A. Generally this is a much higher value. Most relays have a two-way switch that can be controlled; n...

You seem to have run into a classic limitation the old version of the ftp protocol. In this version the server opens a port on which the return traffic is to be sent. This only works when the end-to-end connection is fully transparent. Link: http://www.slacksite.com/other/ftp.html This has been a pr...

As I mentioned, the others already have 2gb that came with their Rpi2s and not everyone in a position to upgrade. Also the fact that big distributions can take hours to install vs minutes for 2gb. I've done a couple dozen installs last few weeks and it is getting old. 8GB SDCards cost £3 at http://...
