hm, puppy doesn't boot for me :-( my setup is as follows: a 32mb sd card containing the bootfiles and in the config.txt a line kernel=kernel_puppy.img (this i copied from the images fat partition) cmdline=cmdline_puppy.txt (copied from image also, but modified the root entry to read root=/dev/sda6 o...
And what would be the Linux program to easely "clone" the SD card? (noob proof :) ) under linux you can just use the dd command (yes, the same you probably used to write the image *g*) command would be something like dd bs=1M if=/dev/sdb of=/home/username/backups/pi-backup.img if= is the devicename...
was it taken down? can't reach it from here... Hm, it should be up... I just reset the service so perhaps you tried connecting when it was restarting. Let me know if you have issues. Don't go by the pings--that is dropped by the firewall as a matter of policy, not an indication of server being up o...
not sure, but could it be missing kernel support for the filesystem? did you check the /proc/config (or .gz) if there is maybe a module ready that you can modprobe or if not if you can recompile the kernel with support for that filesystem?
A Pi won't help you much :(, it simply doesn't have enough ram. Even the 1GB we have on our autobuilers isn't really enough leading to massive swapping. hehehe, ok, so since i don't want to replace my gentoo system and i am just too lazy right now to set up a debian/raspbian vm, i'll let it go for ...
i think grub is not available on arm, but i'm not sure... EDIT: to slow a typer... as shirro says it really is not available... but that doesn't matter really in the pi the gpu handles the startup... anyways, what are you supposed to do in the menu.lst file? never used debian myself, but in gentoo u...
Sorry about not posting an update. Unfortunately the build failed about 24 hours into the build with syntax errors in one of the files. If you care to review the error, the log file can be found here: http://archive.raspbian.org/raspbian/logs/main/c/chromium-browser.log Right now we're busy with tr...
... I have got to the point where I need to type "./hackfw.sh /dev/sdX" but I can't figure out what number X is. power up pi, when booted an logged in go to the console now plug in the usb device type in "dmesg" and look at the latest entries, the output of the command should end with several lines...
Pi arrived yesterday :) Follow progress of my HUD / wearable Pi project at http://www.chrisnewland.com/raspberrypi nice stuff :-) please keep on updating, my iwear vr920 is currently on its way from germany to the us to be fixed, but when it returns i too plan to "play" with it on the pi. i'll keep...
As a learning exercise any idea why the original instructions would not work for be where as they seemed to work for that other guy? probably because execute-permissions were not set on the file due to copying it to your pi from the mac? when in a terminal typing "ls -l" will show contents of the c...
on a more serious note someone from the foundation/broadcom mentioned on a similar thread quite some time ago that indeed hdmi/composite are impossible to drive at the same time, but if you manage to use the dsi connector (i.e. kidnap some bc engineer and let him produce a new gpu-binary for your ds...
If you want speedy browsing on the Pi, you could always use the lynx text-mode browser 8-) no joke, you can start the links-textbrowers in "graphical" mode (-g switch) so images are included... works on framebuffer-device and "windowed" in X... i often use this on my netbook when i don't need/want ...

<t>@Tomo2k thanks for the quick answer and the explaination... i feared as much, but good to get confirmation by someone who knows his stuff...<br/> but just to clarify i got it right: the B board uses up to 700mA, so a 1A PSU will leave 300mA to be consumed by the USB devices correct? so having usb...
