Re: Impossible to set white balance?

Have you tried to set the awb to a specific mode? You can try to use i.e. "-awb sun" to get less variation in the white balance(there is still some auto white balance I guess). What type of scene do you capture. For the exposure you can use the -ss option to force a constant exposure. And yes there ...

Re: raspivid -e does not show encoded video

The -e option only works, if you create some output.
If you do not want to have output you can try something like:
"raspivid -e -b 1000 -o - > /dev/null"

Re: RPi + Cam + nginx

Yes, the best way in my opinion, nginx,rtmp-module and strobemediaplayback. But needs some time to compile ffmpeg and nginx, here is a page describing it: http://pkula.blogspot.co.uk/2013/06/live-video-stream-from-raspberry-pi.html You can also look at this thread where it is described some pages do...

Re: New raspivid test release - please try.

...Now it is true that 'test005.h264' was the segment with nearly all the motion, so I'm guessing the h264 encoder decided to change its placement of I-frame insertion and that fouled up the timing of the splitting process. So for this idea to work as expected we may also need the ability to force ...

Re: New raspivid test release - please try.

Yes, with -wr 100 it splits the files in segments. I will do some more tests later, seems to works fine. I can play the segments. And "raspivid -sg 2000 -wr 10 -o vid%d.h264" will create 2s segments, which are the smallest segments with the default I-frame setting, exactly like you have said. pData-...

Re: New raspivid test release - please try.

Thank you for the nice new feature. Have compiled raspivid successful. But how should I invoke it?

I have tried "raspivid --segment 1000 -o vid%d.h264". This creates only one file vid1.h264.

Re: New version of Raspistill

Hmm, looks like ss is a parameter that keep needing to be sent (rather like the exif stuff). I'l fix up the code when time allows. It could also result from some autoexposure/awb going on in the background, changing exposure and whitebalance. Just resending the ss would then not be a good solution ...

Could you try a quick and dirty hack: int set_shutter=raspicamcontrol_set_shutter_speed(state.camera_component, state.camera_parameters.shutter_speed); if(set_shutter!=0) fprintf(stderr, "Failed to update shutter speed\n"); directly before "vcos_semaphore_wait(&callback_data.complete_semaphore);" in...

Re: New version of Raspistill

I think the program needs about 1 second to initialize the camera. If I just call "time raspistill -ss 30 -t $n -o - > /dev/null", I get for real: n=0: 1.124s n=1000: 2.042s n=2000: 3.038s So it always needs ~+1s longer. Do you see the same behaviour of frames getting darker with raspivid too? I had...

Re: Permanently turn AWB off

You can set it to a fixed awb mode in RaspiCamControl.c See the function : void raspicamcontrol_set_defaults(RASPICAM_CAMERA_PARAMETERS *params) and change the default parameter : params->awbMode = MMAL_PARAM_AWBMODE_AUTO; to i.e. MMAL_PARAM_AWBMODE_SUNLIGHT The camera needs to use some model for th...

Re: New version of Raspistill

Yes, the way you have compiled it should be fine. If it would have been the wrong version, it would not have accepted your arguments.

And the values for the microseconds are ok, too.

You can try for example ISO 800 if you have a really dark scene.

Re: New version of Raspistill

It is micro and not milliseconds, therefore 1s=1000ms=1000000us. And please try without -ex night. And without specified ISO the camera works great, but you will not see a big difference in the pictures, because the ISO will do a good job and give always a nice picture. With fixed ISO you can play v...

Re: New version of Raspistill

I got really nice pictures using 0.3s and ISO 80: raspistill -ss 300000 -ISO 80 -o test.jpg Your values of 0.0003 s is very small, I think. And -ex night does not make sense in manual mode, you set your exposure manual and it overwrites your settings. poing have you updated your firmware? rpi-update...

Re: New version of Raspistill

I'm not sure that is wholly possible. H264 has no timestamping information, but it does have a zero based frame count. Not sure how to access it as its in the slice header. You might be able to output a text file from the timestamps in the buffer callback, flagging when each frame arrives as you su...

Re: New version of Raspistill

For i.e. wildlife recording, I think it would be nice to mark somehow, where and when the "pause key" was pressed. One possibility would be to use chapters, they can be used with vlc and other media player. They could be added to a mp4 video with MP4Box. MP4Box takes chapters marks in different form...

Re: New version of Raspistill

Then you can try to find the process id manual with "ps -ef | grep raspi". The second column of the line with raspistill is the process id. i.e. "pi 3003 2946 0 15:28 pts/3 00:00:00 raspistill -v" Now you can run "kill -USR1 3003". (It needs to be backticks ` around the pgrep raspistill, because it ...

Re: New version of Raspistill

If you have not edited the buildme script, it has called make install. Then is installed at /opt/vc/bin/raspistill, so just running "raspistill" should use the right version. So you can now try i.e. "raspistill -v -s -t 0 -o test.jpg" and in a new terminal test "kill -USR1 `pgrep raspistill`". If yo...

Hello gordon77, if you start raspistill without arguments the program will output the version in the first output line. Re: New version of Raspistill

Hello James, it seems that there exists a problem if you send a "kill -USR1". When running the program without the -s switch, it receives USR1 and prints "User defined signal 1" and exits the program(without saving an image). If you use the -s switch I can only get 2-3 frames before the program is t...
