Re: 2Pis and 2camers - how to stream on same network?

What exactly do you want to do? I know the'll upset each other if i try and put them on the same network together! Do you have dhcp to give separate ip addresses? If you have static ip addresses you will need to give them different ones(i.e., 192.168.1.100 and 192.168.1.101). Then you can run motion...

If the camera uses "bonjour" you can use "avahi-browse -a" to search for it. Additionally fing from http://www.overlooksoft.com can be used to discover devices in your local network.

Also das "tail -F" gibt nur am Anfang mehrere Zeilen aus, also beim Aufruf werden die letzten 10 Zeilen ausgegeben, und danach werden nur die Zeilen die neu hinzugefügt werden ausgegeben. Re: Snipping the first X seconds of raspivid?

Without re-encoding you can only cut at these I - frames, avconv -ss 00:01:00 -i "input.mp4" -t 00:02:00 -c:v copy "output.mp4" would try to cut a 2 minute segment starting from minute 1 to minute 3. But it would need to search for the nearest I-frame. You can increase the I-frames in raspivid with ...

You can use the Initial state switch -i and the signal mode -s: raspivid -i pause -s -fps 2 -o test.h264 & sleep 3 kill -USR1 `pgrep raspivid` sleep 30 kill -USR1 `pgrep raspivid` the last kill will stop the video, so you can delete the last 2 lines and use your program to stop the recording. Re: Minimal latency for still image

Yes exactly, I have used this "wait for a unix interrupt signal". It just waits until receiving a "USR1" signal through the kill command which was send by an other program, starting a stop watch on the monitor to measure the time between sending the signal and the time the image was captured. But th...

The main bottleneck is the sensor: According to this link: http://ovt.com/products/sensor.php?id=66 The sensor is capable of getting these resolutions and framerates: 720p @ 60 fps 1080p @ 30 fps Full @ 15 fps VGA @ 90 fps 960p @ 45 fps You can only get higher frame rates if you request a smaller re...

Re: Outdated avconv in apt-get (03/2013) - problems

You can try to change the the profile in avconv with(i.e. 5fps): avconv -r 5 -loop 1 -i test.png -c:v libx264 -profile:v main -level 40 -t 1 -r 5 -pix_fmt yuv420p out.mp4 And use "raspivid -pf main" to get the same profile. But I think you will get some problems regarding bitrate, too. (SPS and PPS)

It depends, I have switched to jessie 3 month ago and I am happy with it. There are some problems when running apt-get dist-upgrade, some packages from the foundation needs to be removed. But apt-get has told where the problems are. But if everything works for you with the mixed system, I do not see...

Re: R 3.0 on raspberry

R 3.0.2 is part of jessie, you could try to dist-upgrade raspbian. Or if you want to try a mixed debian add

deb http://mirrordirector.raspbian.org/raspbian/ jessie main contrib non-free rpi
deb-src http://mirrordirector.raspbian.org/raspbian/ jessie main contrib non-free rpi

to your repository.

Re: Minimal latency for still image

I think it works similar to this(but only guessing): The program consists of "components" which transport the image data via a buffer which is piped over "ports" between these components. The basic component is the camera. The camera is capturing continuous images at some fixed frame rate(as request...

I think it will be very difficult to reach 10 ms. I have played a bit with the signal method of raspistill and the best delay i have got is about 160 ms. Even if you do not use the preview, taking an image using the still port will take some time to switch to capture mode. You could use the preview ...

You can look at the "c" program uvccapture, which is a kind of "minimal" v4l2 image capture program. http://staticwave.ca/source/uvccapture/ You need to replace #include <linux/videodev.h> with #include <linux/videodev2.h> in uvccapture.c and v4l2uvc.h . Then it can be compiled with make and tested ...
