Re: Deploy Raspbian OS on numerous RPis

Hi, You could quite easily develop on your Pi and then image the SD card, or if you google "qemu raspberry" you can look into the emulation side of things.... I have several "Base" sd card images that I use, just flash them to the card and away we go... If you want a light weight distro you may want...

Re: Problems Upgrading To Jessie

Hi,

I'm still unable to get an upgrade to Jessie to work, I'm fairly certain GTK 3 is broken after the update which is causing the issues I've been seeing, I'm going to have one last try and see if I can trouble shoot the GTK issues, any pointers would be appreciated...

Re: Problems Upgrading To Jessie

Hi, I think you should go with it....... <Snigger> Anyway back on track, may I ask how you create your images, what do you use as a base, what is the process ? As you can probably tell I'm having grief in getting an update to Jessie to play nice and I have no ideas where it is going wrong, on the fa...

Re: Epiphany Browser Painfully Slow

Hi, I’ll have to look at the January stuff tonight, I’ve not got access to the Pi during the day to change the card unfortunately... I have done some more trials this morning albeit quite crude, from what I can see it is an issue between my router and the Epiphany back end and not external DNS serve...

Re: Epiphany Browser Painfully Slow

Hi, I've made some progress tonight with the help of you guys, the issue is indeed DNS related, but is only applicable with the webkit browsers with the September release of Raspbian and "probably" certain types of ADSL router... My /etc/resolv.conf had:- nameserver 192.168.0.1 <- My broadband route...

Re: Problems Upgrading To Jessie

Hiya, I have actually nabbed your distro to try out although not, installed as of yet, was thinking of using it as a base and then building up to a desktop environment if I cannot get the upgrade to work... May be a bit too much work for me to do there though, a bit above my pay grade as they say......

Hi, I am unable to change the DNS servers my router picks up, Sky have the interface locked down unfortunately.. However... If I edit /etc/resolv.conf to: nameserver 208.67.222.222 nameserver 208.67.220.220 That should now pick up the OpenDNS servers yeah ? Maybe try googles as well ? Sky are VERY m...

Re: Epiphany Browser Painfully Slow

Hi, Good making progress, must be something in the back-end.. A video of the browser speeds can be seen here http://aniceplace.me.uk/Pi/Browser.mp4 First NetSurf then IceWeasel then Epiphany, all 3 should have been loading from cache as I had loaded the pages previously... A quick run through of my ...

Hi, I installed and tested kiosk on a fresh install tonight, both versions were very slow to load news.bbc.co.uk as was Epiphany. NetSurf and Iceweasel were significantly faster. I've made a video of, Epiphany, IW and NS loading bbc news that I'll put somewhere tomorrow, the difference is orders of ...

Re: Problems Upgrading To Jessie

Hi, Well, I tried again this time answering yes and replacing the configuration files. Even worse. .. Looks like a 898Mb swap file gets created for a start, when booting it now tries to go straight into X and gets stuck in some kind of loop, black screen with the mouse pointer and then an error mess...

Re: Problems Upgrading To Jessie

Hi, Exactly what I tried previously, however as you can see i had issues, a reboot may not help but its free quick and was suggested it may help so I gave it a twirl. Would what I'm updating from have any bearing ? The sept release seems to be a problematic beast maybe something older, grasping at s...

Re: Problems Upgrading To Jessie

@asandford Hi, Having read the link I think the dist-upgrade is needed, it's not a mission critical system nothing else is installed, package names have changed dependancies have changed... Maybe a bespoke stable system yea but not in this case..... Thanks anyway. @ rpdom Rebooted before the dist-up...

@ gkreidl What can it it be then, fresh install, no other software installed, nothing else plugged in, Epiphany takes 5 mins to load a page, Dillo loads it almost instantly.
